I'm comparing a Katana and a Sword of the Derian Ka. Both non-magikal, same speed (15), fatigue is 1-3 for Sword and 1-4 for Katana. So WHY is it that when equiped, the Sword of the Derian Ka does more damage? (according to character screen stats) BTW, 3 in meele. On another character, unnarmed he does 1-3 damage. With a dagger of D:1-4 damage, he does 1-3 damage. He has 2 in meele. Btw, I'm playing Arcanum Patch v08083 []s
You haven't installed the latest patch, meaning that the sword of the Derian-Ka very well could have the stats of a Magic sword or somesuch, no matter the displayed statistics. In the case of the dagger, my guess it that you have strength 8-9. Is that correct?
Thanks for the short reply. Yes, I have 9 Str Sorry, my I copy/pasted the version and somewhat it lost the "2" Unofficial Arcanum Patch v080823. It is the latest. But what I mentioned isn't all that is weird. Soug is doing 8-14 unnarmed (17 Str, 3 Meele) and 8-15 with a Sword (D:1-8)
Sorry, the dagger example is 1-3 unnarmed, Str 6, -1 Meele With Dagger (D:1-4), I get D: 1-2, so it makes a little sense because Str 6 = -2 dmg. Still, better to fight unnamerd?
If you put on some decent gauntlets ? Definitely ! It might hurt a bit when beating on these ore golems though.
Right, completly forgot about the gauntlets. Unlike other RPGs, they really make a difference in the damage! But if I hit with gauntlets, I take damage right? That's also very different from other RPGs. ALso, fighting unnarmed my speed is my fist speed right? Still no explanation for the katana thing. Might just be a bug.

Anyway, I don't see a problem. The damage is calculated by adding your character's Damage Bonus to the actual weapon's damage and it caps at the weapon's upper damage x3, e.g. a dagger with 3-6 damage will have 18-18 of max physical damage. That's it.
