joining theives underground

    how do I join the theives underground if I killed the theives on the bridge?

    If you've killed Lukan before he gave you information on the Thieves Guild, you'll need to do a quest for Mrs Pettibone (I think) in Tarant. She's standing by the bridge, between the subway stop and the general store. Afterwards, visit the guildmaster by the docks.

    is there any way of joining later in the game if I've already botched that one? I'm at l49

    You could try doing the membership quest, go to the town hall and steal the map out of the safe and bring it back to the guild head. But I don't know if you can force that particular quest.

    You can also steal Gilbert Bates' Journal and sell it for Appleby. When you have done that, just go to speak with Mynor and he will add you to the Thieves Underground.
