I AM the centre of this world! You all answer to me! If it is Monday where I am, you better make damn sure it's Monday where you live.

    The evil has been vanquished.

Wolf, why are you changing your avatar every single day?

Well, I'm settling with the half-orc, but I'm using my current one for roleplaying purposes.

Okay, as I explained in another thread, I was on holidays (and I'm well aware this is gravedigging, but I figure that since a thread was devoted to a topic, people might want to read what I have to say on the subject). Unfortunately, going on this holiday denied my access to the internet, and Jinxed forgot that I'd gone (I also forgot to remind him).

Still, it is funny in retrospect. It won't happen again though (leaving a word censor in place far longer than I intended it to be I mean), and the competition is still going.

I find that if I may a character that is uber enought o progress solo ironman I'll get bored 'cause I hate fighters. Sorcerers are shit at the start. Maybe I'll be a Pally, though they're pretty boring too. Hmmm...Monk?

Have you actually tried solo Ironman Mr Wolf? You won't find yourself saying "This is a goddamn walk in the park, where's the challenge?"

A paladin would probably stand the best chance, given that they can get huge bonuses to saving rolls and whatnot, but a monk has naturally high ones as well.

Does it matter to you what class we pick? For the contest that is.

Nope. Play any kind of character you wish. What matters are:

One character only (that means, no followers)

    Ironman Mode.

    Screenshots as proof.

I'm still of the opinion that a cleric would be the safest bet. Just face it. They've got decent combat abilities, turn undead and the ability to heal themselves over and over again, and some nice spellcasting on top of that. That's well enough to beat the bleedin' tar out of them...

I only play solo, and I have tried Ironman on numerous occasions. All characters that stood a chance were boring.

It's not that hard to solo bard the game. Just avoid fights whenever possible. Using sneak and diplomacy skills. I got killed however, every time. The survival skill needs investment.

Yeah, but does a solo bard stand a chance against the elemental node guards? No, you don't have to beat those to complete the game, but they've got some nice items in them which could be useful.

A druid would also have potential because of their animal companion thingy, their ability to cast damaging spells, heal/buff themselves and that they can learn how to craft some nifty items.

Are we supposed to be completely and utterly alone, or can we hire other party members?

No followers. Another thing that gets me angry is the fact that you have to ba a fucking diplomat to complete the quests in Hommlet.

You don't need diplomatic abilities to complete all quests, but they are needed or at least beneficial for most. So what? Isn't that a good thing? Shouldn't people who've invested points into these skills receive something for it?

So you say that diplomatic abilities should have no use?

No, I'm just angry that I can't complete any quests with my character.

I guess you're a sluggy half-orc with a 3 for intelligence and charisma scores then. Do you really think guys like that are charming enough to receive quests from honest peasants? Hell no. Go and slay some beasties instead.

ToEE was built with parties in mind. And in a party, there should always be someone with the silver tongue.

And as I said, you don't need to have high CHA and persuasive skills for all quests. Just look around a bit.

I won't say what quests though - and I suggest you do the same. Don't post ToEE spoilers here...
