items effect locations?

Could anyone tell me which files to look in to find the item effects? All the "machined plate adds strength" patchlinks I can find are dead, and I also wanted to change to base appearance of the ultralite chainmail..any advice as to which files I need to alter would be very appreciated.

 

Item_effect.mes is in the mes folder. However this is only a description of the effect. It does not govern the effect.
If you want to alter the effect of an item you have to change / attach a script.
The original machined plate fix will soon be available (if mathboy ever gets round to fixing TA's illiteracy "There is no files" )
My uber hack will also contain a more advanced version of the machined plate fix (which will be released soonish).

For the appearance of the mail, simply drop the new art file into the data\art directory giving it the name of the existing mail file.
