I was on the Elder Scrolls Forum somebody mention that the online Roleplaying Forums and the Quake and Doom forums the members personal attack each other and use raceical and national
insult on each other. I might have been guilty of it in the past I am only human.

This probably belongs in the "General Discussion" forum...

Yes, in general, people at (off-line) RPG forums and message boards are nicer and smarter than people at FPS or RTS boards.

Well, most of the people here are nice!

It seems that multiplayer games attract a large number of "unwanted" people...

    My bad experience...

A year or two ago I played a PC game called "Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption". I've read that the game is based on a pen & paper RPG system, so I tried to find related newsgroups. (I'm D&D player, and wanted to learn other RPG systems)

And I found one. So I posted a question saying "Hi" and ask for directions (where to find more resource about the RPG System, etc.) and I got flammed by at least 20 people. (Nope, I found no FAQ threads at that time. And their reason to flame me is: This is a ROLE-PLAYING forum. You're ruining our fun by not ROLE-PLAYING.)

Till this day I still don't understand how seeing a thread title of "Hi, I'm new to VtM:R" will ruin their enjoyment.

Perhaps they don't need new players anymore. Perhaps next time I should roleplay as a lost vampire with amnesia to ask newbie questions.
