My addiction to getting high took a turn for the worse (I know, right? especially considering what else I've posted concerning this dilemma) when I bought what's being sold in adult gift shops as a substitute for pot, to get high. I normally buy what's called Sonic Zero, and I would have, if I hadn't decided to try something else, called Flame. Everything happened to be half price, thanks to a new line of products coming in and they were getting rid of all of he old stuff. Likely due to pressure from the DEA to outlaw what's in those products. On the container for Flame, it clearly states that the product should not be consumed under any circumstances, and that consuming it can be harmful or even fatal. I disregarded that warning, because I figured it wasn't marked as a smokeable simply to allow whomever makes it to put the stuff in there to get people high. So, after spending 10 dollars on 1.5 grams of the shit, I drive home and plan on smoking it. I do. I get high for about 20 minutes, then my blood pressure goes up, my pulse goes up, and I feel a whole lot weaker. Standing is difficult, movement is laborious, etc. I call my girlfriend.
    "I did something pretty stupid."
She tells me to call poison control. They tell me to call 911. The police come to my house, along with an ambulance. They think, due to what I did, that I'm going to be combative or hallucinating or whatever. I just feel lousy and stupid for doing what I did. They ask me if there's more of what I smoked in the apartment, I say "Yes, it's in my headboard." They confiscate the Flame and two of the stone pipes I made myself...my two favorite pipes, which happen to have pot residue in them. I called the red stone pipe Little Johnny, the black stone pipe Rhino. I'll never see them again.
I end up in the ER, my landlord called my mom and told her the police and an emt crew came to pick me up. My girlfriend tells my mom what happened, my mom is PISSED. See, I promised I'd stop smoking pot, which I did. Upon that promise, I also promised that I wouldn't buy any more of the shit people can buy in stores. I broke my promise, now my mom doesn't trust me anymore.
In the ER, they drew 8 vials of blood, and did a urinalysis on me. The only thing that came back was that my blood potassium was too high, so they gave me a shake that was gritty and sickeningly sweet to lower it. The only thing they were afraid would keep me in the hospital was my bloodsugar, which was 550. They gave me insulin, which lowered me to 217, and allowed me to be released. My mom agreed to pick me up, only so she wouldn't have to pay for the cab I'd need to bring me home, though there was an ATM in the hospital and I could've gotten some money out of my account to pay for fare.
After this, I'm finished. The stuff they sell in stores has been linked to fatalities, I hallucinate when I do too much pot, I've dissolved the trust I had from my mother, and if I keep doing these things, I'll end up losing my girlfriend. Plus, if I get caught doing it again, I won't have anywhere to live. So, I think it's safe to say I'm done. I don't want to bring this strain on the people I care about, I don't want to put my body through any more physical stress, and I'm tired of telling you guys how much I've screwed up/how crazy I am.

Why on earth did you try out a drug without knowing what's in it, especially when it is labeled as "harmful, maybe even deadly"? It's the epitome of irresponsibility.

Seriously dude, you're playing with your health and sanity here, go cold turkey. Isn't too hard, especially after all this shit. If I was able to stop smoking and competitive Starcraft (which kinda destroyed my last two years), you can do it as well.

It's really very simple, all you have to do is to refrain from buying or accepting any drugs, including tobacco and alcohol. If you don't have it, you can't smoke it. Try jogging and biking every day, it can help tremendously.

Oh yeah and use common sense, don't take more medication than prescribed, they won't magically chase the bad hallucinations away after 5 minutes of being ingested, and they might have serious side effects.

And don't worry about your mom and girlfriend, they love you and will forgive you, just don't do irresponsible shit like this again.

I plan on going cold turkey. I've been dealing with this addiction for the past six months. I may end up going into rehab, but if I do, I know it's something I need. The thing I'm worried about is that most addiction therapy involves replacing one addiction with another, which I don't want to do. I know it was irresponsible, but I just wanted to get high and it's what I had at the time. I know the ramifications, and I know what I have to do to get myself better. I may never be sane, I've been pretty crazy my whole life, but I know I can be clean.

If you're looking for a new addiction to replace your old ones, try online poker. It's entirely substance-free. Just make sure you stick to the low stakes tables. And by low stakes I mean $0.02/$0.01 - that way you can spend the whole night on a losing streak and it will still only cost you a few dollars.

If your alternatives are remaining addicted to something deadly or becoming addicted to something that will not kill you, replace the former.

If you must substitute, don't do so with something that has room to grow.

E.g, with online poker even if you "convince" yourself to stay on the low stakes tables, sooner or later you will get bored and move on up. Financial ruin, no place to live, loss of trust from mother/girlfriend etc.

It's actually harder than it sounds to find something that's not self destructive like that, generally if you're not breaking any laws or spending a lot of cash you're wasting a lot of time that could be better spend elsewhere. So what you probably need to do is find something that does not involve anyone else, does not effect your health or wellbeing, doesn't have the potential to land you in jail and wont screw you over mentally.

Seriously though mate, we're all addicted to something, in Zanza's case it's World of Faggots, in my case it's fixing/building shit and for you it was smoking questionably legal substances that were fucking you over mentally; but atleast you're taking steps to change that now.

I don't like the people in the game its just cheaper than a new game each week. Find me a great game like fallout 3 and I'll play that for a few months.

Morrowind was a poor sequel to oblivion, the graphics got worse and the story was rubbish.

I make soapstone figurines and pipes. Basically what's holding me back is physical endurance. I cut the figures and pipes I make out of raw soapstone boulders, so getting a piece I can do something with is rather tiring. I guess I could make something out of a boulder, but who needs a pipe that weighs 15 pounds? It'd be ceremonial more than anything else, and I guess making a figurine would be easier. My talent is making things look like they came out of the stone age.

The stone age wasn't known for its artistic and well engineered tools.

The stone age was known for being the time when humans first showed any sort of religious imagery, artistic license, and expertly knapped stone tools. Most of what came out of the stone age is the product of weeks or months of hard work on the part of the sculptor.
