As far as I'm aware, yes, but ONLY magically. I'm not sure if this is always true, but even the ones that "don't count towards the follower limit" wouldn't join me when I had 6. Although they did when I had 5 and my charisma was not 20. Search around this site for threads (there are several) that explain how to keep summoned creatures and even NPCs that would otherwise never consider joining you. As far as I know, you have to be mighty potent mage for the spells required.
Yes. You can get Dante for "free", just make him wait and then rejoin. The same goes for Thorvald Two Stones from the Isle of Despair, but don't let him follow you when he enters the Wheel clan. Dog is free. Any self-made or summoned followers (arachnids, guardian ogres and such) are free. With CH 20 and Persuasion Master you can make any follower join you and have your party as big as you want- but don't make any of them wait, they might not rejoin you later. P.S. Having a big party can make the game slow down annoyingly, especially in the cities and other crowded places.
Yep, if you want a useless follower, you can drag Jormund along with you as well. He's probably the worst fighter in the game and has no personality whatsoever- but he is indeed free.
Not to mention that dom willing people is free, although sometimes they get mad at you for it  Jomund has to wake up, magic isn't his thing. Being a cashier at the McDonalds of Tarant, maybe, but not magic.
Most Meta abused slaves come around after a bit & get to liking you. Jormund is a Force Mage. There is nothing wrong with him that a trip or three under the Dark Helm for a boost in MA will not fix. Well that & a new mage combat AI. Oh and a personality transplant too. He has as much personality as an enslaved follower. My evil PCs tend to keep Jormund around for comic relief. Give him speed boots, Guantlets of DX, & his speed stick. Try RTC & set floats to verbose.
i know this has nothing to do with arcanum, but it does have to do with the topic so here it goes... is there a way to get more than 6 followers in fallout 2? (and i mean USEFUL followers, not just stupid dogs...)
Put on your Smoking Jacket, bring Raven, dressed in Sunday's best dress, to the nearest Panarii temple and ask the priest to marry you. And don't forget two fancy golden rings and some food and wine for a big party after
yes, you can, it's in one of the small villages near the monsters one.... I forget the name of it, but it's at the top in the north... it's the town where you find the little kid... you go into one of the buildings, talk with a red-headed woman, sleep with her, and then you 'can' get married.... but the chick is a shitty fighter, I personally only keep Dog Meat with me.... I like him... I 'accidentally' killed her with a slightly modified weapon (as in I modified IN the game)
Or you can marry her brother, Davin. Both of them are said to be useless in combat, & while you can get married with a full rack of followers, you cannot ask a spouse to wait, & when you ask anyone else to wait your spouse will take a slot & you are right back to 6. CH 8 or better for marrage I believe.
