To answer the question asked here, we go to the polls.
Although I have not the slightest clue about Gamespy, I appreciate the reference to my mother's frilly pink bed.
Thusly I voted "Beats me."
But thanks anyway for the inclusion. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and pink and frilly and :bunny: and ....and...um... I better quit while I'm ahead.
i voted beats me too
but , who really gives a shit ?
news flash : just got podded in 8207  by some lvl 175 guy ..*sigh* .. and i just bought that ship today ...
I think that if I were in any way pro-gamespy, I'd have taken them up on one of their two billion hosting offers or I would've gone work for RPGPlanet or something. I didn't. I think that means we're not pro-gamespy.
Good one, Calis.
Gamespy ads really screw up sites...happened to my last forum.
Then it appears Drizzt has his answer.
Pink. Frilly. Im all about that over here.
I never found Gamespy to be the evil of evils. Thats because nz has its own link.
Gamespy is the tool of the Devil! The only reason I occasionally read their stuff is that they sometimes have good interviews and things like that. I don't trust them for reviews (although I will read a preview every so often), and I think their downloading system sucks.
Ok so what's the deal with GameSpy all of sudden? Btw I hate FilePlanet by far and large more.
Dragoon - someone named Drizzt said he had something to say, but only after we decided if we were pro- or anti- Gamespy.
This thread was created to "help" him.
I hate using fileplanet, but I don't actually hate its existence. Okay, it's a wait, but it is still essentially free bandwidth for patches and utils and whatnot.
Gamespy SUCKS the only positive reviews they give are for the makers that pay them to do so. They lie in their reviews and they never tell you the real deal. The devils on tool they are (and I should know  )
Oh, a mystery in the HoL. Interesting.
Sheriff I also meant using Fileplanet rather than its existance. However with my 30hrs/month limit and their 20minutes queues it's virtually unusable for me. Must get adsl.
Gamespy seems to be specifically for gamers on high speed connections. The pages take simply ages to load. Good luck with downloading anything popular on fileplanet if you're on 56K...
I think GameSpy is so-so. Their weekly Grudges make for great laughs, their reviews are okay. What I hate most is the flash adverts that literally fly into the middle of your screen every once in a while. Still, I suppose money must be made somehow...
I should also point out that I'm not actually *against* Gamespy. As a host for fansites, they're actually pretty decent, it's just that I've come to appreciate the freedom I've had with sites outside Gamespy. With them, the chance they'll interfere in some way with the way you run your site is a bit bigger (it happened to Duck and Cover, for instance).
I would also like to point out that most people who bash Gamespy don't have a clue what they're talking about. Bashing Gamespy has been the l33t, 'hip' thing to do for a while now, so it is mainly done by jumpers of bandwagons.
I can honestly say that I had never heard of it before Drizzt brought it up.
Dude, gh3yspy is gh3y. Who'd want to use Gh3yspy? Gh3yspy suxx0r5!!11!!1! I've never yoosed gh3yspy, but they're soooo gh3y.
(Yes, I think the drummer guy IS about to spank the naked Saxophonist.
Although I was sympathetic to start with to a degree I now better understand your extreme hatred of spam.[/b]
In response to DU
I'm not posting it directly because it's so goddamn huge.
