Is Jayna supposed to leave my party in Tarant?

I've already done a search on the older topics, but I didn't find any that helped. Jayna, when you first meet her, says that she wants to go to Tarant to continue her studies. But when I take her there, she doesn't say anything about leaving your party willingly.

My question is, is she supposed to leave your party in Tarant or at some other location(I haven't finished the game yet, just got to the Wheel Clan so far), or is she a permanent part of my team unless I tell her to leave? I'm curious about this mainly because I'm still trying to decide whether to have her as part of my core group or if I can just drop her off to wherever she wants. Plus, the Prima guide mentions(but doesn't provide any details) quote: "She'll accept a few detours, but Tarant is her intended destination".

    Jayna Stiles?
She'll stay with you for good - unless you tell her to leave or unless she gets really pissed off because of something you do and she doesn't like.
She's a keeper, by the way, especially if you're playing a technologist character.

Hmm...I suppose, but so far I still can't decide whether to be a magic or tech character. What makes her so important to a tech character? Virgil and Dante heal me fine, so does she have something special?

Actually...if Jayna's character portrait were prettier, I wouldn't even have made this topic, but, ugrhh...she's ugly, with her mouth open like an idiot, especially compared to Raven or even Cynthia from the Isle of Despair! Call me superficial, but I can't stand it!

If you're going to play a technologist character, Virgil's magical healing skills will stop being useful after a while (up to the point where he keeps trying to heal you and faints because he wasted all his precious mana - teh funny btw). I guess you can still give him those bandages you find at shops and he'll use those to heal you, but so will Jayna, plus she can actually make drugs and potions for you. And she doesn't whine as much as Virgil.

The biggest problem with Jayna, despite her elven heritage, is her face. I can tolerate Virgil for a much longer period of time than I can Jayna. However, she IS much more helpful to a technologist than ANY other character.

I hate her face. She looks like a goth chick I knew in high school, and she always pissed me off.

Well according to this site, she should look like this:

That face doesn't make me wretch, so I think if Jayna looked like that, I'd let her in my party. Or, not seperate her and myself from the rest of my group and then kill her.

Jayna's portrait also pisses me off. I don't know why, but I always imagine her drooling.

Whenever I see that portrait of Jayna, it makes me wonder if she smoked some of the herbs she's using since she looks wasted. I mean there are an excessive number of poppy flowers in the game and whenever I used her she always seems to grab those after a random battle.

As far as her leaving in Tarant, I thought the same thing as the first post based on the Prima guide and your first conversation with her. I was pleasantly surprised since I got to keep my herbalist though I do wish her auto-leveler spent points for strength rather than beauty.

You have a point, there ARE quite a few poppy flowers to be found in Arcanum. Along with coca leaves. Then again, a lot of medicines and cure-alls were made with what are now considered dangerous narcotics in the 19th century. Coca Cola? Really made with cocaine, back in the day. But, to be honest, Jayna Stiles is one person I wouldn't mind really meeting, if only to tie her to a chair and beat her senseless with either a shovel or a croquet mallet.

And how I wish for those changing portraits to be created... But now... It's all gone...

And hey, fhqwgads, no beating of ladies! First turn her into a dude, and then you beat him black and blue.

Please, bunny. After looking at that face, how can you be so sure about Jayna bein' a lady?

In the game, if I had a male character, I never personally killed Jayna. I either let her die, or let her accidentally hit one of my party members so much they retaliated and killed her. If I played a female character, I took everything of value from Jayna, seperated the two of us fom the party, and either used a scroll of disintigrate, or planted some dynamite in her pocket and said "Wait here for a while."
I was as politically correct as I could be. Now, I can change her into a guy, with a little help from my friend Hexecute, but it's really not the same as killing the original Jayna.

No shadow of a beard? Maybe she uses wax. No sane man would use wax.

Fhqwgads, I understand the feeling. I'm trying to do that with Vollinger. I send him first into battle, I don't heal him, but the guy will always find a way not to die. I'm still waiting for him to try to kill me, so I guess I'm sleeping with an eye open.

Since Jayna really doesn't try to kill me ever, I just get rid of her for the sake of getting rid of her. Getting rid of Vollinger after he joins the party is much more of an act of self preservation, so what you're doing is a little less sadistic than what I do. Just a little. I'm talking a hair. Not really, your method makes more sense. I just want more death in the game.
