Internet Hatred

You don't like memes? I love the memes! The memes are what make the Internet what it is.

I recently visited this site to follow up on a rumor a friend mentioned to me. "Let's see, now where do I click to actually see stuff..." At the bottom is the "Enter Site" link. I hate it when sites act as portals to themselves. This isn't 1996, I know what a website is. When I click a link or enter a URL I want to be taken to some content not the coversheet to some kid's science project.
Here is an example of doing it right. I'm instantly taken to the content I want to see.

I also hate it when a website morphs as I'm clicking on something. IMDB is the worst offender here. I enter the URL, the page loads, and just as I click the search field some ad loads right where the search field was and I am instantly whisked away to some stupid preview that I didn't want to see.

So my gripes are strictly usability gripes. I love the Internet culture.

I just find memes are rarely funny, then again I don't usually go looking for them or peruse forums where they're common so maybe I'm just not seeing the right ones.

 

Memes have a tendency of being run into the ground, but this High-Expectations Asian Father and this Third World Success are good ones.

 

I personally liked memes, until anyone became able to make them, now out of 10 memes only two are ok to me.

 

My favorite thing about the internet? Providing validity to a conversation I have yet to speak in.
