So if you could steal something from a foreign culture and seemlessly amalgamate into your own, what would it be?

For me it's jolly ranchers - why? Because they're damn tasty! I love looking at a bag of jolly ranchers and reading "contains natural and artificial flavors" - that in my opinion is how it should be, I love the bold honesty of it. Pear drops are made entirely of artificial flavours, and they're delicious. Yet despite all this they still haven't caught on in Britian and I have to pay £5 for a bag - over $7 - which is daylight robbery!

Also I hate the British bias against cinnamon flavoured sweets, America and Canada are rife with them - why won't anyone let the love spill over? Apart from the occaisonal supplies of Jelly Belly Sizzling Cinnamon jelly beans I'm practically all on my own here.

And Żywiec beer, because it's stronger than regular beer and it tastes great.

So as an aside from my perverse candy and beer lust, what in terms of foreign stuff gets you going?

The Japanese language apparently has a word that approximately means "to decapitate passers-by in order to test the sharpness of a new sword".

    Re:

I do indeed miss the topless beaches. Also, stroopwafels.

I thought nudism was a myth designed to help teenage boys get to sleep.

    Nudism is a myth? Hah!

Poor old English. No wonder a fetish for bare feet prevails in England; that probably counts as partial nudity there.

I'm pleased to report that my public nudity (and cannabis consumption) over the last decade has been off the scale.

Probably even off the Netherlands scale, given the subtropical climate.

    Re:

This is the first I've heard of this. I suspect ytzk may be projecting his own perversions here. After all, he's in a land obsessed with sun and fitness*, and yet he spends his time imagining people huddling together in cold damp houses staring at each other's feet.

    * Fun fact: There are more Google search results for "australia gym bunnies" than for "gym bunnies".

That shit is old, I remember seeing that when I was in school, or teaching at a school. I can't remember. Sounds like English people are just perverts.

Yes, there have been perverts in England longer than there have been perverts in Australia, but on the other hand the people in this thread who brought up foot fetishism and revealed they watched sexually suggestive music videos while teaching in a school are both Australian. So... um...

You should really get these mood swings checked out, old bean. You might be going through the menopause.

It probably helped create the next generation of perverts, so yeah, thanks for doing that - now I can go out and reap that harvest. Oh man, Imma reap it so good.

It's no mood swing; I'm just consciously overcoming a conditioned response. You're welcome.

I could list all my grievances against English culture, but on second thoughts, I understand the hows and the whys of the issue, and I acknowledge that English are as much the victims as the perpetrators of the problems.

Living in the shadow of China in a nation colonised by the fallout of English class warfare while still receiving BBC programming and regular immigration of dropouts from England, gives a unique perspective on the culture, and it shits me.

    Peace.

Not really, since you're still exhibiting the conditioned response, you're just apologizing for it afterwards.
