Hi everyone! {off topic introduction} I've been playing Arcanum for over 6 years now, and I still consider it the best game ever. It's a real pity nobody wants to continue with another episode (Arcanum 2 !?!). I would buy it faster than I can blink, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that way.{off topic} I've only recently discovered tons of mods, add-ons, patches, updates, cheats, you name it; and they all seem to be worth investigating. Unfortunately there are incompatibility issues and issues not well explained (or so I take it). One of the incompatibilities is the one between Arcanum Work In Progress and the Level 127 cap patch. Sad, because before finishing the game you still get to make around 10 more levels, if not more. One of the poorly explained add-ons is The Honorable Franklyn Payne mp3 that has no readme file or link to any discussion topic. Is there a thread out there that can elucidate this mystery. Does anyone know, step by step, how to install Arcanum and be "up to date" with every patch, add-on etc? I thank you in advance!
Welcome to the forums! You might consider this thread worth reading. It has the full script plus the story behind the mentioned mp3 file.
Arcanum: Work in Progress is like a standalone mod. It's a huge mod, and is definitely worth a shot. However, because of it's range, it modifies most files, leaving most mods incompatible, unless they were designed to work with A:WIP. Thus, the install order for that should be Arcanum + 1.0.7.4. Patch + A:WIP (If I'm not terribly mistaken, A:WIP also included Drog's UAP).
I don't really have anything to add constructively to your question, but I would like to say I like you immediately due to your use of the word "elucidate."
Welcome to the forum, Alessandro_Monti! Only in the broadest definition. It's actually a major main game expansion. Stock game with more to see and do. Correct on both accounts. Also - the High-Rez patch, High-Quality Music, and (to a point) High-Rez Townmaps will work with A:WIP - just be ready to make allowances for new stuff that's not shown on the maps.
