    Hey guys.

I've previously posted on the hints and tips forum to sort out a conundrum concerning lockpicks, but I think it's time I made a proper intrduction.

I came across Terra-Arcanum a while back, but I was since I bought Arcanum last year that I've properly considered joining the boards. A few years ago, a mate of mine lent me Fallout 1 and 2, and I was instantly hooked. I soon joined Vault13.net, in which I was quite well-known, but sadly the place closed down early last year.

Anyway, I only started playing Arcanum recently, and was really impressed at how it took role-playing to a whole new level, especially the interface and the wealth of character enhancements. Despite being a massive Fallout fan, I have to say that I prefer Arcanum, and intend on lending it to the friend who originally introduced me to Fallout.

As for playing Arcamum itself, I played most of the game a half mage, half techie, and didn't really commit to either discipline I really liked using a Flamberge, which was undoubtably my fave melee weapon of the game.

Outside of Fallout, I'm a big fan of the fantasy and science fiction genres as a whole. (Babylon5, Star Trek, Star Wars, you name it.) Otherwise, I've always had an interest in military history and firearms. Speaking of which, I take part in a great sport known as "Airsoft", which in laymen's terms can be best described as paintball with BB guns. (If you want more info on Airsoft, don't hesitate to click on the banner below to jump to my team website.)

Right, that's about it, I hope we can get acquainted. :)

    Regards,
    Morden

    Nice to meet you!

Babylon 5 is the best show ever!

I'm glad to meet another sci-fi enthusiast like myself, especially one with a love of Fallout. Though Arcanum was only an ok game by my standards, i can see why so many of the people here love it so much (besides the obvious point that this is, technically, an Arcanum forum). It did have a lot of depth, and lotsa choices, but i could never get all the way through it without getting a little bored. I stopped once in the city where the planes were made, and once much earlier, i think just before the isle of despair.

BTW, i inquire to whether you, or anyone here, has read Tales from the White Hart, by Arthur C. Clarke, which is the best science fiction i have ever read.

Hello, and welcome to the forums! I hope you enjoy your stay!

BTW, guess who VerZreV's "great technicion" is. Yours truely.

Here's the scoop of the House of Lords:

NO spamming! Over-do it and you will be labeled a spammer and, possibly, banned.

NO gravedigging. Leave dead posts down in the ashes.

Act intelligent! I've had to learn this one the hard way.

    Now for the people.

Jinxed is now the forum admin, although Calis made the board. He has passed it down to Jinxed.

Snowmane is Jinxed's newly-appointed mod for HoL. Treat with respect.

mrnobodie is a volunteer firefighter over in Australia. Treat very nicely during dry summers.

Darkwalker is a member of the US Navy. I think he's gone right now for the war with Iraq, but he'll probably be back.

Jarinor is the biggest flamer at the House of Lords. Especially act intelligent around him. Don't bother trying to flame him back, because everyone respects him.

Sheriff Fatman is our not-so-devoted sheriff. He's been gone for awhile now, but he will probably come back. Beware his smart ass.

Milo is the genuis nutcase in town. He doesn't post much, but he sometimes can be found around the Judge-A-Girl® topics.

Etalis Craftlord is a mini-Jarinor in the fact that he likes to flame, but isn't a master like Jar. Haven't seen him around lately.

Canis is... Well, I'm not sure WHAT he is. I haven't known him for long.

Dragoon was a frequent poster but kind of left awhile back. I don't remember him much.

    Rosenshyne is like the above.

    Threedogs is like the above.

Gamenut pops in now and then, but doesn't talk much.

Ferret is our furry little friend. He come in now and then to educate us and whatnot.

friend_al_23 had been a frequent poster and spammer back when HoL was young, but now, you can find him around the Yahoo Arcanum club.

DarkUnderlord is a big Fallout fan, and the god of WorldEd, and creator of AMTUT. Also master at making people look dumb.

Octillicus is new to the forums, but everyone likes him, even Jar, and that is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to do! I'd say treat with respect.

That is about it for the regulars. I know there are more that I have overlooked, and I appologize to them in advance.

That's basically the scoop on the House of Lords.

BTW, if you are wondering what I am, I'm the guy that tries to fit in but get's bashed down into the forum dust. DON'T treat with respect. :D

Why does everyone tend to forget about me? I have a big history in this forum, I WAS one of the biggest spammers this forum has had, I've been around longer then most on this board as well, but here, I'm still forgotten.

I'm a regular, joined in September of 2001, but still forgoten...

Cource, all the newer people around here don't know about me and my spam and stuff, heh.

Well, I'm an old person to this forum. It WAS my very first forum I've ever gone to, which is why I stay. :)

Yes, I do seem to get that quite a bit.

Fine, off my mind then. :)

*rolls eyes* Ugh, so bloody predictable, the greatest novel in the wide genre of "Science Fiction" is Aldus Huxley's Brave New World.

And NOT just because I own a rather valuable first impression.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. :)

Clothos, good to see another B5 fan about, there's usually one or two to each message board I join! ;)
I've got almost every episode from series 2 onwards on official video, and I even attempted making a tabletop fleet game based on the series. (However, due to time constraints at college, I let it go.) If you want to chat about B5, don't hesitate to drop me an email. :)

As for Arthur C. Clarke, I'm a huge fan of the "Rama" series, bloody fantastic and an epic story if if I ever read one! I'd highly reccommend giving Rama a look, but the third, fourth and fifth books are about 2.5-3 inches thick. :p

Oh yeah, in case you want to know, my screename is not only the same one I've been using since 1998 wherever I've been on the net, but is based on Mr. Morden from B5.

VerZreV, thanks, I'll check out the link, and thanks for the gifts Octillicus. ;)

Xento, thanks for the lowdown on the House's rules, but don't worry, I've been surfing the net for over 5 years now, and I've never been a spammer! In fact Vault13.net its own "Vault of Folley" known as the "Vault of Stupidity". (Always good for a larf, I say.)

Shadygrove, good to know you guys keep up on politics here, it's always good to have the odd topical discussion IMO. (Despite the fact that I study Politics at college, I don't know much about the American system, so I guess I'll have to learn fast.) :D

Oh yeah, to pass the time in Fallout 2, just access your Pipboy personal computer, (Hotkey "P", I think...) and look at the date and time counter at the top left of the screen. Click on the square button with a yellow "bell" on it, and you should get a menu displaying choices for how long you want to rest for. Just click on what time peroid you want. :)

    Thanks again lads.

    Regards,
    Morden

Go to the PipBoy (shortcut 'P') and look for the little icon up the top that looks like a bell or something. Click it, and choose how long you want to rest.

Nope, but that's because if you tried to organise a con in Australia, everyone would be too lazy to go :D.

As for you, Morden, well, I may have a reputation as the biggest and baddest wolf on the board, but really, don't do or say anything stupid, and we won't have issues ;).

A note on some of the others...

Quethim complains. A lot. But, when he's not doing that, he's a nice guy. Just pay attention to him and he'll have less to complain about, which will expose the fact that he NEVER DOES ANYTHING ELSE :)D), which will cause you to lose interest, and cause him to complain. Vicious circle, isn't it?

Qilikatal is a generally nice guy, though he seems to like a good flame war/(not so) friendly debate.

Shadygrove racked up his posts in places other than the General Discussion, otherwise I'd know him. He seems to be an ex-military man, and something of a liberal, maybe even a hippie :).

Etalis, Dragoon, ThreeDogs, Rosenshyne, friend_al and gamenut pretty much never show their faces around here anymore, so I wouldn't worry about xento's advice on them.

Goddamit, I'm turning into a tourist guide...

No worries boss, you won't get any problems from me.

Shadygrove's ex-military? Great, I enjoy chatting to veterans about the military when I get the chance, especially those in the US. (There was a former Army Rangers sergeant on Vault13.net who I had a massive discussion on small-arms with.)

Well, if you like talking to military guys, there's one guy who comes to plague us from time to time who is ex-military. Trouble is, he's black, gay, and a raving lunatic. Then there's Charles.

If Charles BHoff (or whatever the second part of his name is) posts, ignore it. Charles' writing is so illegible, the references to cryptic, and it's so fucking disjointed that the Germans should have used him to code messages instead of Enigma.

But back to the other guy. If Eros Rex (that's the name he first used here, and it's likely to stick) ever comes back - which you'll know by the explosion and subsequent flame war all the regulars will be waging - just laugh at what he says. He's a great scapegoat, because he's totally insane...which is also why no one ever wants him to come back. He spams, he rants, and he sells elves made of those short, furry, pieces of wire (I've temporarily forgotten their name).

Hi Morden, I'm the regular that everyone seems to have forgotten. I'm known as a keeper of the peace. I'm also portrayed as a hillbilly, with positive moral values. Oh, yeah, and I'm a pervert. Nice to know you.

Short, furry pieces of wire? possibly pipe-cleaners?

Anyway, you study politics at college too? Might I ask if you're currently engrossed in the wonder of AS or slugging your way through the european utopia of A2?

I'm coming to the end of College life and am (hopefully) moving up to The University of Nottingham to study "Great political and constitutional writer of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries" Sounds like a blast, don't it?

Eros Rex sounds like my kinda guy, I mean, how could you not like a guy who's the self-titled King of Pleasure?

A guy who is an total arshole who wants to go to war against iraq because he wants to see the "bastards burn". If it was upp to me we should have tied him to the first cruise missile that was launched against bagdad.

Sorry about quoting all this, but i didn't want to screw the whole thing up.

Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, are you frigging kidding me? I'm a few years younger than you, but don't you at least enjoy stories that are interesting or mildly humorous? Though the concept was ok, the actual book was quite boring, by my estimation, but you may disagree.

I read most of, if not all, the Rama books. They were decent. Though i would stay away from the 2001 series. They got kinda sketchy i thought.

That's cool about trying to make a B5 table-top type game. I don't have the time, patience, or enough B5-loving friends for that to work, so i just watch the movies and episodes, over and over. I'm getting the first season for my birthday on DVD, and boy am i looking forward to it. I also just watched In the Beginning again, one of the greatest TV movies of all time.

I also will likely enter politics at some point in my life, and may go into it in college if my physics skills don't improve. I wanted to work for NASA, but if i can't really grasp calculus, i may be in for trouble.

Since i'm not an avid poster, i don't get mentioned, but i'm a good old conservative boy, and will defend conservative and pro-US positions with retard any day.
