I've had my GameCube a month now, and I have found 1 (count it, 1) game worth keeping in all that time. Big thanks to GAME for their returns policy.

    Here's how it went:

    Bought
    - Capcom vs SNK
    - Extreme G3

    Returned them both for
    - Gauntlet, The Dark Legacy (KEEPER)
    - Super Smash Melee

Returned SSM for James Bond, Agent Under Fire

    Returned that for Mario Sunshine

    Returned that for Luigis Mansion

Console games just aren't very good. To cap it all, I just noticed some game in development on Nintendo.com called "Dungeons and Dragons Heroes" and smacked myself very hard in the forehead when the first line of the blurb turned out to be:

I added the bold myself, but they may have well as done, given that it stands out like a glaring beacon of non-gamerism.

    Nice punning on the title.

Look on the bright side - if I read your post correctly you've had the opportunity to play eight games for the price of one

Will your store let you return the GameCube for a PSX?

My GameCube was a birthday present, and I think I'd have the same deal with a PS2. Basically, there are a few arcade-style games I can enjoy, but mostly that kind of thing doesn't interest me.

Has anyone played Burnout or Burnout 2? They're very good racing games for the PS2 and are great fun multiplayer.

However, I may be biased, as my brother wrote them both.... :D

Your brother wrote Burnout? My brother told me it is the best driving game he's played for a long time.

My PS2 is locked up in storage, dammit. I enjoyed Onimusha Warlords, Kessen, and FFX. My brother said Onimusha 2 is tha mutha funkin' shiz-nit, I can't wait to play! I bought Warcraft III like two months ago, strategy guide and everything, but I have yet to open it. What the hell's wrong with me?

I bought GTA III for my new computer (I ended up getting a fantastic Dell, thanks to all the advice you all gave me by the way :D), and although it's an amazing game and the graphics almost look better than the PS2 version, I have to say that games like this are much more instinctive with a console; keyboards complicate things.

The same holds true for Zelda: Ocarina of Time; it wouldn't make a good PC game, but as a console game it kicks ass.

I think Playstation has the best games written for it. Incompatibility is the main weakness of consoles especially when you consider prices of this new generation units. Anyway I once played a few games on old Playstation and it was quite a lot of fun. For up to 5 hours at most however. No console game actually got me hooked on to it. Perhaps if I had a console of my own and enough time&cash to enjoy it things would be different.

    Couple of things,

First off, I'm a console gamer, because of that you might not understand some of my ideas because they are based on something you haven't experienced.

Anyways, I bought my first console and it was a PS, just for one game: Resident Evil. And I don't want to hear nobodie say that "I've played it on PC, it sucked" because all conversions suck and that's a well known fact.
When I didn't own a ps, my friend lent it to me on many occasions. I had a German version Resident Evil with no memory Card. You know what? I played that game for over a year to finish it. No saving, and with no idea in 90% about what's going on. Part 2? Well, that was easier, I don't know what I played more, part one or part 2? I'll never know.

All the other games I bought came as a bonus. Nothing REALLY significant, although games like MGS or Silent Hill sure did hit the spot.

Now I have a ps2 and got cheated out of the RE sequal by those nintendo bastards! :p

What's worse, I bought a Dreamcast just because it had Resident Evil Code Veronica on it and they betrayed me yet again releasing it on PS2.

The thing is that you need some sort of DRIVE to invest in consoles, a kid, or perhaps you yourself be one. There is no way someone 20 years old or even older suddenly grabs a console and enjoys the games if he/she hasn't done it before.

OH, and I'm back, but not in 100%, my mom is in the hospital and I need to leave the house constantly.

I hope your mum is okay, Jinxed.

I haven't played Resident Evil, yet. It's ironic, isn't it? You wantt o play it but don't have a Cube, and I have one but don't want to play it. I'm just waiting for Haemeroids Prime (whatever), at which point I'll get myself one of those gun thingies and have a ball.

I'll also get BG: Dark Alliance. It's not a role-player, but it'll be good fun for Lysa and I to play co-op on it.

Burnout 2 will be on my list, maybe. Got to keep Ferret's brother off the streets, haven't we?

I'm a big fan of the RE series. What strikes me odd is my take on the movie. The movie is a stunner. I don't think it has anything to do with people responsible for the game. Yet, it has almost every feature of the game intergrated in it so well that I jump with glee. I haven't watched a movie twice without getting bored in years. I saw RE in the theaters, and once I got it on dvd, I watched it twice the same day, and two more times the following 2 weeks. I still can't believe it myself. RE is glorious.

Metroid Prime isn't a shooter in that way. It's a sequel to (an apparently) great side-scroller adventure Type Thingâ„¢.

    Blergh :).

Hate to break it to you, but while Burnout was on multiple platforms, Burnout 2 is PS2 exclusive.

Speaking of Playstation and Playstation 2, I dislike both platforms. Intensely.

Any specific reason? If I suffered from "too much money burning hole in my pocket disorder" PS2 I would buy.

I think we have slightly different "really cheap" definitions. Especially because I'm not really into consoles therefore 100$ is absolute maximum I would spend. I know it's a ludicrous price for PS2 but as I said a console isn't something I crave for every minute. Perhaps I should play Resident Evil ;)

Is your mom all right already?

I really hate the controller...and most of the games for it suck. Naysayers claim the GC is a kiddies console, but I so many of the games for PS/PS2 are for kids I don't know where they get this from. Also, I never found a compelling reason to get one - snowboarding games are available on every console, ditto racing games and shooters (oooh, big deal I miss out on MGS and MGS2!).

You miss out on Onimusha, GT, most ISS and Silent Hill.

I have two consoles, a PS and a PS2. The reasons for these purchases are simple, they were both the latest and greatest at their time.

I played all my not so serious games on console, like shoot-em ups, sports games, fighting games, racing games. Basically, all the games that were fit for console and the simple console controllers. All the others, sim, business, strategy and RP games, i played on PC.

So i guess you could say i like consoles in a way, but on average, my time on PC and console is probably in the region of 95% PC and 5% Console.

    Nice.

I'm probably the same. I don't buy every game that comes out. The consoles sit and catch dust until one of "the" games comes out.

At least my PS2 is safe from the evil dust bunnies since I watch dvd movies on it whenever I can. (yay! And it's 10x better than on the pc)

i like consoles, but i find since i bought gta3 and a bunch of other games for it for a ton of money(i love being a kid. Leeching money from your parents is priceless). I've spent less and less time on my comsoles. The only one i really play are my genesis.(Pirates Gold! is about the only thing i play :paranoid:)
