Yep Bob Brown is the leader of the Green Party, the member of parliament who stopped talking about 'carbon footprints' when it came out he caused more polution than anyone else in the entire parliament.

I like the idea of socialized health care. IF it were done properly. Given our Social Security System, I'm quite convinced it wouldn't be (The following is speaking PURELY on the idea of it, and not on it's practicality).

I think it'd be great, but I'd want limitations placed upon it. For example: To qualify, you must be employed, and you can't be on welfare/similar programs. I would be willing to give exemptions to full-time students, the mentally handicapped and retired individuals. It also wouldn't cover any cosmetic/apperance altering surgeries unless it's to help hide a serious physical deformity (ie: someone who was severely burned). Breast implants wouldn't be covered. Period.

    Counter Arguments?

Arthagon: What's bad about Obamaish, and where the fuck is Fryslan? I'm too lazy to look it up.

Well, like I said, I've met the man and he's a git. I do with that Chris Ball had gotten through instead - he's a genuinely good person who gives a shit about the world and making it better. (Which may actually be why he didn't get through, now that I think about it...) Oddly enough, he's the one politician who I got to introduce my father to, instead of vice versa.

Your exemptions for retired people just ruined it. The Baby Boomers are the largest generation on Earth and they are all retiring within the next decade. Basically when that happens many countries will face a situation of more pensioners than working tax payers any and all socialist support systems would collapse under the immense demand for services coupled with a low level of available funds.

Only through having a controlled population size could you ever institute such a system and expect it to be able to last in the long term. And even then you'd have to wait a few generations for the population to level out to the point that you want it at.

Though if you mandated a retirement age of 70, you'd only have to pay'em for 10-15 years before they croaked. That's not *too* long...

Same problem, Baby Boomers didn't have enough kids and then their kids had even fewer children. You want to build a system were an ever decreasing population has to support a generation larger than itself.

Well, it would seem that a bit chunk of European countries' strategy for that dilemma is to not have any kids and let the Muslims take over.

Metaphorical rock into a beehive there, I'm sure.

Not providing healthcare for the unemployed is also a crap move. With the economy tanking* the way it is, a whole lot of people who are perfectly willing to work now find themselves unable to. Fish and I, for example. Which reminds me; I have in interview tomorrow, somebody sacrifice a chicken.

*This statement does not imply that there is a recession. The recession only exists in the minds of the easily spooked sheeple. There is a minimizing of the economy not because Americans are suddenly becoming poor, but because Americans are finally being forced to live within their means. *le gasp*

The employed are precisely the people who don't need subsidized healthcare because they are the ones who can afford healthcare. DarkFool, you are an inept socialist, however by virtue of that deficiency you may very well be a model human being.

I can think of no greater deformity than itty bitty titties.

Pushing the retirement age out might not be such a terrible idea.

Girls, who have the cup sizes like Lola, are horrible as well.

Here in the Netherlands, you have to work until you are 63 years old.

    Good on you for saving.
I am amazed by the number of educated people around me who are freaking out in the wake of present economic conditions due to poor budgeting on their part.

6 months minimum of expenses should be banked at all times once you are financially stable. That is old, classic advice that can be hard to follow through wilh but can be very important for when shit hits the fan, but doesn't immediately fly off and actually kinda gets cemented on the blades and you have to wait for a rainstorm to loosen it up before you can scrape it off.

Stream of consciousness metaphors for the win.

I like it how we're currently in an economic crisis due to the disappearance of money that never existed in the first place.

That's because we are overrun by leftist turdheads who pretty much think that any criticism directed at Islam is racism. Call it oikophobia or cultural masochism, but these people pretty much want Western civilization to die.

My favorite is when they argue that no one can be Swedish, that there is no such thing as Swedish culture (our very own PM has said that the only thing that is genuinely Swedish is barbarism) and in the next breath vigorously defend the CULTURAL RIGHTS (now extremely sensitive and important) of the Somalian goatherds we'll soon be importing by the million every year until we've finally realized the multicultural paradise where everyone lives off welfare.

My reason for insisting upon employment is because of my dislike of homeless people. I am firmly of the belief that anyone and everyone can work. I've seen mentally-handicapped individuals bag groceries. If they can do that, I'm pretty certain that most everyone can. I understand that things may be not in your favor, but if you stick with it, things get better. You just need time. Sometimes lots of it, sometimes a little bit.

DE: I apologize for what sounds like it may be your countries downfall. I think that everything needs criticism. I also maintain that, if a society has rough edges that don't mesh with the environment they want to move into, they shouldn't expect the environment to change, they should soften those rough edges.
