Hello everyone i'm new to the forums. I recently bought Arcanum on gog.com and am looking forward to playing. I saw there was an unofficial patch and was wondering if it is a good thing to download and install. Where is a good place I can look around at the different downloads available for the game? For example I started the game and saw the avatars are a little lame- i'd like to download some alternative avatars if possible. Any other advice for a new player just starting would be great as well. I bought the game because I read it was similar in some ways to the Fallout I&II games which I love. I thought about listing all the games i've played over the years but that would be a really long list. I enjoy RPG's, Strategy,and FPS.
Install the 1.0.7.4 patch and the unofficial patch, they fix a LOT of stuff. There are two portrait packs at http://terra-arcanum.com/downloads/ under Arcanum / Arcanum Hacks, not sure if they work with the unofficial patch, but give it a try anyway.
Thanks I got the game up and running and now i'm trying to figure out why I run out of energy so fast.......
Running outside of battle is pretty much free, so make sure you exit combat mode before you resume running.
Indeed, if you notice you got your weapon out and there are no enemies be sure to press that shield icon on your interface.
i think i figured it out- i picked the background that gives me high cha and this requires having some companions to help with the fights.
