i have questions.....................

what is the best way to go about joining the thieves underground?
i talked to some chump that said to talk to the little guy in tarant, but he won't ask me to join. even if my alignment is on the evil side, he still won't ask. i can trade with him, but no join the club.

any other ways of joining or any suggestions??

1st of all if you are already in tarant and killed Lukan(?) in SHills you cant join the Guild

No even if you have killed Lukan you can still join the thieves underground. Help Mrs Pettibone get the elven funery stone and talk to the man beside her house and he will ask whether you want to join the thieves underground.
As for finding out about thieves underground from Lukan, you need to trick him into thinking you are a thief too, then he will ask you whether you are from the thieves underground. Although you do not know about the thieves underground then, play along with him. Tell him you are here because he is occupying the thieves underground's territory. He will be very scared, as he doesnt want to offend the thieves underground cause he wants to join it. Tell him that he should make amends, then he will pay you 200 gold and leave. Later when you reach Tarant, talk to the man in Madam Lil's and ask about Lukan. He will tell you about thieves underground and offer you a chance to join.

 

The guy you need to talk to in Tarant is in an alley beside the Pettibone residence.

well, what sucks is, i already did all that, i helped the lady with the elves thing, and even talked to the guy beside her house...and he said to talk to the little guy in tarant...but he won't ever mention the underground.

What's the name of this "little guy in Tarant?" It kinda sounds like you're talking to the wrong guy, because Thaddeus, the guy who lets you into the Underground after you steal the map, doesn't trade. I mean, you can't buy things from him.

 

Maybe his talking about the shopkeeper with Mr. Black in the black market

 

Yeah, sounds like you're talking about the Black Market outlet on Dervish Row. The Thieves Underground rep is called Thadeous Mynor, is human, and is at 19 Quilton Bend (next to a warehouse, very near the gate outside which the Gypsy woman stands).

At any point after completing the Pettibone quest, you can go to Mynor and he'll tell you what you need to do to join the Underground.
