I have an Arcane Dagger and you do not.

    What? How come, Muro?

See for yourself. Campare the two photos of my dagger...

...with the two in-game pictures of an Arcane Dagger.

Wow, on my god, what the fuck, the blade is identical! Instead of just boasting about it like a moron, tell me where did you get that beauty from.

    First admit I'm awesome.

Yeah, whatever, you're awesome, now talk.

Well, to be frank, first I bought it on Allegro (polish equivalent of eBay) and just some time later I realised that it's the same thing as the Arcane Dagger in Arcanum, while as a true Arcanum fan I should do it the other way around. Details. Worry not however, I did manage to find the very original concept, which my dagger is a mere imitation of. Quite sad on one hand, but on the other it did cost about one third of the original one's price.

Have you ever heard about Kit Rae? The guy is one of the foremost fantasy/collectible weapon designers in the industry with a worldwide following for his unique fantasy weapons (or at least that's what his site says about him). Here is the mentioned site, and (get ready) the Isis Dagger appeares to be the original dagger and, it seems, the item that inspired the look of the in-game Arcane Dagger in the brain of one of the Arcanum designers that has stumbled upon it. They just made a few cosmetic changes so it wouldn't be such an insolent steal, I guess.

    Very nice.

Apparently California Blades have it on sale.

    Awesome, I really want one!

And yeah, it seems like the Troika developers were inspired by this design, since according to this page the Isis Dagger was first created in 2000, and then reissued in 2009. Since Arcanum was still in development, it's highly unlikely that it was Kit Rae who borrowed the design.
This definitely goes on the Easter eggs page.

    Awesome find!

I'm actually quite sure that one of my friends has a knife like that. He's also a fan of Arcanum. Guess I'll have to check it out.

Sadly, I don't think this guy is as unique as we took him for. The other day, I watched Worf stab his brother with this in an episode of Deep Space Nine.

Intriguing. Have you, by any chance, the means to show us that dagger? Pic, screenshot, YouTube link, anything? Surely I'm not the only one who'd like to compare the weapon you mention with the Isis Dagger (and, on that occasion, with the Arcane Dagger as well).

I saw it on the Space Channel, but recognized it right away. I'm just getting ready to leave the house right now, but it's the episode where Worf's brother asks Worf to kill him to preserve his honour, but Worf ends up having his memory erased instead. Maybe there's something on Memory-Alpha.org

EDIT: Nvm, it only took me a second to find it.

We're lucky enough to see a diagram of half the blade about halfway down. It's a long article, but there aren't many pictures, so scroll and you'll find it.

The mevak has some similarities, but it's a different blade.

The reason so many geeks own Klingon weapons is because they're awesome. I'd love to own a bat'leth, but I have not the money. (And I'm not even remotely confident in my spelling of the badass weapon.)

Definitely close but I'm not sold, the gap in the middle of the blade is different.

The blade is different, yes (while the resemblance between the Isis Dagger and the Arcane dagger is more than striking), yet I wouldn't be suprised if the creation of the Isis Dagger would appear to be ispired by the mevak's looks, be it a concious thing or not. Being a Stark Trek geek (or, as a matter of fact, any geek) perfectly suits a man who designes fantasy blades for a living.

Why thank you, esteemed sir. Unfortunately, this is what happened to me right after I've submitted the 1001st post. Strange, I don't remember the registration agreement terms mentioning anything about that... Ah well, I'm fine now, I guess. :hobbles away:

I just loved the deadpan 'oh, crap' near the end there. Ah, deadpan snarkery, how you make me smile.

You know what? I've had a few drinks tonight and I've come home and the internet is on which is always a bad idea, so I'm gonna say I like you and this dagger is now the official honorary Arcane Dagger.

Well what can I say? When those are the effects, I strongly approve the drinks. I also encourage posting after drinking, such posts always have something unique and jolly in them. Down the hatch!

That's actually very pretty. However the star, being one of the worst I've ever seen, ruins it a bit. This on the other hand would be both fitting and merry.
