Well I screwed the plot for my character before by going to quntara before I needed to. So this time, I wanted to get some levels before I headed to the Ilse of despair with my charasmatic mage (My favorite class, 20 CHA, maxed haggle and persuade, maxed the transportaion school, working on maxing white necro, and 1 point into harm because it is the best spell in the game heh heh) So anyway, to lvl up some I passed through the pass to get to the other part of the world (the one near the black mountian mines, sorry I forgot the name but the S corrordinate is 713...) Then I wandered around the stone hills (i think thats what it's called) and found and explored a mysterious pond and the shrine to that gold god. So far I THINK I haven't screwed myself yet but if I get the bangelllion (sp?) scourge, will THAT screw the plot for me? (Side note that I don't think deserved it's own thread - is paying 10k gold to be a haggle master worth it? I don't think it is...)
No, that's part of a side quest involving stringy pete, (punk ass with a punk ass crew) and you should be fine. If your looking to level up quick, find Liam's workshop and follow the path to the void portal. Make sure you bring enough bullets or whatever you'll need em'.
If you are patched, it is harder to blow up the plotline. In a patched game, I have forced Qintara with no ill efects. With haggle Master, it's not the cash you save, but the things you can buy. You will be able to purchase the shopkeeper's personal items. The Sharpshooter's Pistol, the Screaming Scimitar, the Enchanted Dress, etc. Getting the Scorge will not harm the game.
Thanks a bunch! I decided to get haggle mastery after looking at some of the shopkepers items, I really like that +4 CON amulet 8)
Did anyone really have to pay that 10k? Haggle master never actually took money from me. One I played a good tech dwarf, then a dumbwit half-ogre and each time I didn't loose a coin even though dialog said otherwise. 1074 patch of course.
If you're a good thief, you can pay him the money, get your haggle mastery, and then steal it back from him. That's what I did. ;-)
Yes, I use it to buy back the Amulet of N'Tala after giving it to the herbalist for her quest. Haggle Mastery also seems to improve the gypsy inventories (I've bought several Arcane weapons/armor off them). -Poiuyt Man
BTW, Haggling will also get you cheaper rates on ship/train transportation and better monetary rewards for quests. If you have 5 points in Haggle, you can get 50% off the prices of the Blackroot ship and Gilbert Bates' house. -Poiuyt Man
I've just tested the dialogue. If you have 10k as soon as he mentions it he will forget to take the money. If you accept the offer as a quest then go back he'll remember to grab it.
It doesn't matter, I killed him for the money, his gaurds were no problem and he wasn't good alignment so my followers didn't care
