Which movie did you like best? Hope everyone knows what they all have in common. As usual, I'll be reserving my valued¹ opinion for later. This post also doubles as an announcement: My finals finishes tomorrow, and the day after that is my term break. Three weeks. Can't wait to get home. Bad thing is that while I was away my sis managed to rack up insane hours on the Net, so mom disconnected the line. Ah well, maybe I'll borrow Fallout2. Going on holiday to NZ for ten days on Sept 6th as well. Will be back here on September 24th. Didn't feel like starting another thread just to announce - for one thing I'm not that regular¹¹, and there are too many "I'm back!" and "I'm going" threads anyway. See you guys, take care. ¹I value it. ¹¹Yet. (Someone tell me the code for a superscripted 2!)
¹ = Alt-0185 ² = Alt-0178 ™ = Alt-0153 As for the rest... I've only seen Gump. Run Forrest!! Run!!! Ahhhh... The memories...
Forrest Gump. I haven't seen a Beautiful Mind, and it probably is good, but I imagine it will pale in comparison to FG. I am Sam sure did. Tzehoong, see ya later, and good luck. Hurry back!
Out of those three, I've seen Forest Gump and Beautiful Mind. I think I was too tarded out watch I Am Sam, though I'll probably end up seeing it sooner or later because I think Sean Penn's a pretty good actor. So out of the two I have seen, I voted Forest Gump. Tom Hanks was good in it. It pulled at the heartstrings. I laughed, I cried. Being retarded never seemed so swell. Beautiful Mind, while a decent flick, was overhyped in my opinion. Maybe it's because I knew something about John Nash's real life before I watched the movie. Or maybe it was Russel Crowe's jarringly bad southern accent, I don't know. It was a good movie, but I couldn't see why it got such accolades.
Seems like I'm the only one who thought i am sam was the best. I probably won't be able to argue with anyone who starts extolling the merits of "Run Forrest, run!", but I do think i am sam is a must-see. If you have an eye for design the camera shots, angles and especially the colour schemes used throughout the movie are lovely. Very nice. Intense, colourful. Everything is so vivid, but not too saturated as to be an eyesore. Sean Penn gives a remarkable performance! You will actually believe that he is someone wth a handicap. Michelle Pfeiffer and Dianne Weist do a great job as well. The soundtrack is excellent - I have a soft spot for acoustic guitar music, and the movie is brimming with 'em. Melancholy yet serene stuff. Sarah McLachlan's Blackbird is in it. I thought Beautiful Mind was a fine movie, but not deserving of an Oscar. I was very disappointed Moulin Rouge didn't take Best Picture and Nicole Kidman Best Actress. You haven't seen any of the films, Dragoon? Shame! That's tzehoong, please, please. :wink: sigh...disconnected for 21 days..how am I gonna survive?
I have only saw Forest Gump and a bit of A Beautiful Mind. I liked Forest Gump; but beautiful mind seemed to me like a wanna-be-taken-seriously Hollywood nonsense. It had all the clichés to win the Oscar: a sugar story about handicap “based in a true story. uke:
I somehow never got to watch them. When they were in cinemas I didn't have time or want. Now I don't really feel like looking for them. If someone brought a cd to me then I'd probably watch them. Forrest Gump at least. As for I am Sam I don't think it's been even shown in Poland so far.
