I was elevated to a state of bliss when I found out Huey Lewis and the News were touring Australia. It had been more than 20 years since they did something this crazy! The biggest dilemma I now face is whether or not spending $150 on a ticket to see them would be worth it considering I would only really see them for the novelty value. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.
Actually it was I Want a New Drug. At least for me. And how much is 150 American money? I thought you guys used furs and beads.
$150 Australian dollars are around $130-135ish. However what costs $3 in the US usually costs around $6-7 in Australia anyway so its a fair bit of money.
Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humour.
Nope, nope, and I didn't even have a TV in the house until I was 14. There's a REASON I'm such a bookworm, you know!
I'm a bookworm too, but that doesn't mean I can't avail myself of of the greatest movies of pure cheesey win ever made.
Yes, yes, and yes. I recall also The Box, then when it became MTV 2, and then slowly went from music videos, to just shows...
I've decided $150 is a little too much after all, what with the uni fees and books I'll need to get soon.
