How to incorporate your own background into the game

Are there any computer experts here that could give me an indepth description of how to make my own background and put it into the game?

Anyway, here's a quick way to do it.

UnDat arcanum3.dat. Find the files backgrnd.mes, effect.mes and gameback.mes. Copy and paste them in...

Create two folders in your c:sierraarcanumdata directory, called rules and mes. Paste the 3 files to the same folders that they came from. Note that you should copy and paste, not cut and paste.

Now, open up the 3 files, and have a look at what they do - there's descriptions up the top, and making your own backgrounds should be a straightforward process from there. Just remember, that everytime you make a background, to edit the 3 files accordingly.

That's the best I can do here. Do a search, and there's some much more detailed descriptions of 'How-to'. If you have problems with the files not working, e-mail me and I'll try and fix them for you. Only do that as a last resort though.

 

How do you undat?

 

Either get The Mod's Squad's one, or get the official one. The Mod's Squad's one is better though...

Just follow the instructions.
