So, out of curiousity, how many Arcanum websites are left standing? I know that there's this necropolis, Mike's RPG Center, but the few old links I still have are to DoA, which isn't around. Anyone know of more sites? I used to have a link to website set up like a newspaper... the Tarant Daily? I found a reference to it, but it doesn't appear to exist anymore. There's an ancient copy of Troika Connection still standing, but it hasn't been updated since Arcanum was new. What links do you guys have? I think it'd be kind of neat to compile an index-of-sorts of the websites still standing, be it functioning or not. Also, check out the "About Troika" section of Troika Connection: you'll probably recognize a lot of in-game portraits (though I think most if not all are already in the list we have going). If/when people post things, I'll update this list below. Mike's RPG Center Troika Connection
See the links page on the main site. I updated it not so long ago, removing all dead links and adding a few new ones. Note: the laptop link is a shameless ad, inserted by DU. I've pestered him about it, but he said that it was 'absolutely necessary' or something to that extent.
Somebody should backup these sites, I mean download completely, so if some of them get abandoned, you may run that backups on TA, plus you can make a simple PHP script that will check if original site is online, and if not then you redirect to backup, and if yes you redirect to original site. Some kind of mirror invention I've made backup of http://arcanum.wz.cz/ already
Unless they have something truly unique about them I don't think we really need to keep backups. There may well already be backups in the waybackmachine anyway.
The Russian site http://arcanumclub.ru/ seems to have been left out. If you're going to backup a site, this would be one to do as they've got all kinds of cool stuff going on - including an Arcanum bootskin and Winamp skins.
I shall not be responsible for having T-A host a backup of a site that remade the avatars with Bruce Willis.
Webarchive already does a heap of this backup sort of stuff. Dreadfully slow at times, though. That, and I'm more inclined just to hold onto the important/interesting parts rather than the whole bloody site. I've still got a bunch of decade-old SolReSol pages around here somewhere...
You, of course, meant to say that Drog Black Tooth - may the gods have mercy upon his soul - did it, aye?
