You can get your Charisma/4 followers. For example, if you have a 12 charisma, then you can have 3 regular followers. That's people like Sogg, Magnus, Virgil, etc.

Some things don't count as followers. Animals don't, so you can have dog and some vorpal bunnies following you around even though you technically don't have enough charisma. Temporary characters also don't count toward the maximum.

You can also increase your max followers in other ways. One of them is becoming an expert in persuasion.

Followers is one area where tech characters can absolutely dominate...mechanised arachnids, medical arachnids and automatons don't require constant fatigue upkeep, yet vorpal bunnies/summonable creatues (except familiars) do require fatigue - unless I'm mistaken, don't these creatures disappear when you sleep/rest? The necromizer schematic can also raise many corpses to fight for you .

More followers = good in my opinion. That is, if you can afford them .

I think what some people were getting at is that you can have more than just your normal party following you around. A follower doesn't have to be a party-member, it could be a mechanical arachnid, a familiar, etc.

as far as I know I think its in the manual...if you max out your charisma (20) divided by 4 equal the number of followers you can get...so 5

plus one more follower when you're expert in persuasion..

+ jormund...(I think its a bug) joins you if you clear his name

+ dog (if you save him)

+ one familiar (if you master summoning college)

+ one more follower if you keep the caladon elite armor (if it actually works)

+ one medical arachnid you get for free

+ 4-5 (forgot how many) summoned creatures...if you do the god quest up to the end you'll get a LOT of FP (+100 more i think)

my hypothetical count is 16....

master persuasion? sorry don't know...I would usually just go up to 3-4 points in persuasion...never saw the point of mastering it...(except for the Caladon quest)
