I'm in Tarant and am starting to find some unidentified weapons and armor, but can't figure out how to identify any of it...I read through the game manual, but can't find anything about it. Am I somehow missing something really easy?
First there is an Identify spell in one of the magic divisions. Second, if you're a tech like me, there are people standing next to carts in the outskirts of towns who will identify items for 100gold per item. In Shrouded Hills such a person was standing next to the road leading to the bridge. In Tarant there is such a woman too. You have to go beyond south city walls, below docks and warehouses. There is no exact address but I think that the woman's wagon is visible on the map. You might just have to look around for her a bit.
That identify spell is in the college of Divination and is called Divine Magic. Beats me why it's a level 5 spell though.
