1)Get yourself a set of lockpicks
2)Put them into one of the slots on your belt.
3)Click on them and see your pointer change to a "mechanical" thingy.
4)Click with the thingy on the chest/door which you want to unlock.
5)Repeat until success or until the lock jams. If it jams, there's nothing you can do.

There is one thing you can do if the door/chest .etc jams......you can always bash up the door or shoot it down:d

Alt + Attack = Bashing stuff

The key bindings are well hidden in the manual so I thought I'd tell you the most important one.

You can usully find one for free in the trash bin near the "hotel" of the guy who teaches expert pickpocket (next building up the street after the one with the Underground black market traders).

Myself, I normally buy my lockpicks at the very beginning of the game. Oh and I believe there's also a set of lockpicks in the cave with the wolves half-way from Dernholm to Black Root.

The ones at the hotel are in a barrel, not a garbage bin and are always there. The ones in the cave are on one of the skeletons, strangely enough you can enter the inventory of one skeleton by just clicking on it, but you have to pickpocket the other one.

Nice bit of trivia: The reason you have to pickpocket the second skeleton is because the builders parked the thing right on top of blocking tiles. They keep you from getting close enough to treat the body like you would a chest.

Why would you bother? Maybe to loot it without getting attacked?

Or get it out of the coppers' way? (For coppers, read any sort of semi-intelligent enemies.) If they don't see it, they don't blame you?

Once in a great while, you'll get two or even three bodies stacked on each other. The drag option comes in handy then.

I usually just keep clicking until the loot option opens up, but I can see how that might be useful for stubborn deaders.

Alt+F4 is an hot-key. The games ask you if you want to quit or not. A useless hot-key but it's still an hot-key.

    Dragging is good for role-play if you're a thief/assassin...

    Kill someone...

Drag 'em into a dark alley...

    Strip 'em naked...

    Scamper off...

Hmm. This hadn't occurred to me. I'd always thought of it as a 100% useless feature.

Find Madam Lil's, go down the street to the psychic lady (whats her name?) and turn left at the trash can. Walk all the way down that street and right before you get to the bridge, its a single barrel to your left.

Although this is far more common in Car-Arcanum, I have run into it at T'sen-Ang and with the Molochean Hand. Thankfully, it is rare.
