    Any of you out there amateur web-designers? What do you think?

    I'd also be very interested in anyone who has trouble loading the styles on the site. They all work for me (and wow) but what do people without CSS support get?

    DU, the styles in phpBB are based off CSS. You sound like you've never heard of it before.

    Yes, it's neat what it can do, but if your browser doesn't support CSS you'll get an ugly page with the default colors and no images.

    Well I made the design to this page so I don't think I have much of a say here.

    But they do look nice.

    I know CSS and I've used CSS. What I didn't know was that it could replace the entire table layout concept. Also, the styles in phpBB are not based off CSS. They use CSS for the basics (which is how I've always used them). Things like font colours and the like. If they truly used CSS for the template system, there'd be no table code when you view the source of this page. There also wouldn't be all the .tpl files which need to be created for every forum style.

    Just take a look at the code on the csszengarden.com. No tables at all and every style sheet provides a completely new design. No re-coding hardcoded HTML. It's all CSS. ALL of it.

    Actually, you don't get an ugly page. If the page is designed properly (like the Zen Garden) and your browser doesn't support CSS (which means you've never upgraded, basically) you'll get all the text on a plain white background but it's all still readable. If people are surfing this site currently without CSS support, they get a messed up page as it is. Just try it. All the text in the menu on the front page overlaps and the entire layout gets messed up.

    That's what I meant when I said "based off".

    And yes, CSS really is an ingenious way to create websites. Do you plan to use it with T-A?

    beautiful. i hope you figure out how to do T-A using CSS... though i doubt i'll be able to tell the difference...

    That's the Master Planâ„¢. Don't ask me how long that'll take though... I've stopped giving estimates. Ideally an entire CSS based web-design, XHTML 1.0 Strict and all that shizzy. Drag TA kicking and screaming into the new millenium.
