If you find yourself running low on gold or items, try some of these usefull ideas.

While pickpocket may seem like a handy skill to use in the streets, in reality its a waste of time, the average NPC that wanders the streets never carries more than 100 coin, unless you REALLY get lucky. Pickpocketing the citizenry is a waste of time and it throws in a greater chance of being caught and attacked.

Do yourself a favor, aquire a decent set of lockpicks and a hefty lockpicking skill level. Usefull for aquiring items for free.

Go into a shop, advance time untill evening and then wait, if the shopkeeper doesnt turn and walk twords his bedroom, Advance Time One Hour, follow the shopkeeper into his bedroom, the door will be unlocked. Then, advance time till morning, the shopkeeper will get up and go out into the shop, leaving you free to pick thru his items that would normally be for sale.

If your wandering the streets of Tarant and find your pockets slightly less full than you would like, visit some of the key moneyholding places in the city. Go to the hall of records, advance time till night and go downstairs, there is a locked door at the lower left corner of the room, pick the lock (or blast it if your into rambo style) and go in, fight your way thru the wimpy rats. You will see a Barrel and a Safe, both locked, crack them open, you can get atleast 1000 coin, maybe more. And, just down the street from the Inn (I forget the name) is a house with 1 ogre guard in it, he is standing infront of a pool table, there is a door in the top right hand corner, unlocked, go thru it and let the door close. There is an unlocked chest in the room containing 40000 in coin next to a trap door that leads to the sewers.

--++WARNING++-- To those who think they are slick and will just pickpocket the shop key off a shopkeeper, I would advise going for a, smarter plan. Shopkeepers generally have very high Perception and almost NEVER EVER EVER EVER have a key on them. They do carry large ammounts of gold most of the time, but unless you have a LOT of patience and a maxed Pickpocket skill, I wouldnt advise trying.

Also, a keyring is 100% nessecary to maintaining sanity in Arcanum, get one, it only takes up 2 slots and can be purchased (or stolen if your bone broke) for less than 10 coin I think. Look in your Journal, you can get a summary of all the keys you have in your possesion, I dont think there is a limit to how many keys a keyring can have.

If any of this information is wrong (The hard facts, not the tips) then feel free to correct me, or post tips of your own.

Something I forgot to add, if your REALLY desprate for an item or for money, killing a shopkeeper is an option, you can aquire large sums of money from them and thier store. Usually general stores have more money and stuff. Try to avoid the junk shops, they tend to have less in the way of items or money. But, if you need something, you need it.
