Follow the quest path to discover the secret of the Panarii... via Mannox's cave. The little guy will unlock the containers for you when you restore his faith, or some rubbish like that.
The Mannox quest opens the glass cases, not the chest. I have to say, I never even saw the chest. Did you need to use a spell or something to see it?
You don't see it, it's behind the wall. It only shows up if your cursor hovers over it, otherwise, it blends really well with the wall.
i think chrisbeddoes should move it forward in one of his arcanum mini expasions. and i being a mage, will try and use see contents spell on it.
Well, this thread doesn't look THAT old I guess... I noticed this and happened to play with it a bit. I don't think there is anything in that chest. I used dynamite to blow open the chest, which normally leaves any items on the floor. Items that are right next to a wall like they would be from that chest can be seen from the other side just as the chest can - I didn't see anything. I was hoping there would be just one item, then I could drag it through the wall (can't do that to a junk pile though). Now I'm trying to figure out a way to get the finger of mannox really early in the plotline - before Alexander and his buddies ever show up at the temple. Anyone manage this?
Unfortunately, it was. The last post before yours was nailed down the 21st October 2003. So, the thread was essentially dead, I fear. Seems to me that the chest in question was thrown in unintentionally then. Anyway, couldn't someone check it out in the editor? Well, I haven't at least. Never heard of anyone who have, for that matter. Good luck with it though.
Chuckle... thanks, I may need a good dose of luck with this one. It might not be doable without manipulating the plot line to trigger the appearance of Alexander etc (anyone know what triggers that?) - I'm thinking those pedestals may not be real containers, with the actual containers swapped in on the appropriate event trigger. Just a guess. Or I could just wait a bit I suppose, until the proper point in the plot. Not quite as much fun that way of course...
