Hi everyone...I'm new to the forum. I've been lurking around for a few days reading posts, and I have to admit, I'm a little nervous about asking a question. I did try searching the question, and haven't found what I'm looking for, but it seems like a question that might be considered dumb. I'm gonna ask anyway, and thanks in advance for anyone who has any suggestions. I've played the game a couple times now, and the character I'm currently playing is an elf. I'm at Tulla, and would like to master some of the colleges, but the masters won't train me because my magickal aptitude isn't high enough. I have the experience, but my aptitude is at 3 technical. The question is, how can I raise my magickal aptitude? I started out using mostly tech stuff, but towards the middle of the game I began using mostly spells. My aptitude has stayed firmly at 3 tech. I also tried putting on magickal stuff, but nothing's happening. My aptitude doesn't even change when I go into Tulla, which I read somewhere that your aptitude can change when you go to more magickal or more technical places. Hasn't changed. I'm also at 100 good, so I don't want to wear or do anything that's going to put me into the evil category.
Oh dear! You increase your magickal aptitude by spending character points on spells when you level up, not just by using the spells. Of course, the more you increase your magickal aptitude, the more likely it is for one of your techie toys to blow up in your face. There's always the Dark Helm, but that's really for naughty wizards and witches. (Was that your question?)
You only need to get your aptitude on the magic side. One new spell should bring you to 2% MA, & that should be enough. To master a college, you will need to max out one college of spells.
