So what's with all the awful pop song writers coming out of your country? They write, like, everything that's bad in the world of music. Britney songs to Abba! Seems like the only other music to come out of Sweden is deathmetal. What's with this? It's like you're trying to catch up with America's evil policy exports with evil music exports. Is there something in your culture that promotes cheesy music? No sunlight in winter doesn't seem to be an excuse. Thoughts?
Didnt the Hives come from sweden? They were awful too, but awful punk rock. May be death metal is the only thing they're <cough cough> "good" at.
What, you didn't like "Dancing Queen"? :boogies down: Oh and "Fernando" always reminds me of Fernando Valenzuela; I've always had a thing for pitchers. Eric Gagne is sooooooo dreamy! Swedes should stick to their nyckelharpa and be thankful, that's what I say.
Well, since I'm like the only Swedish regular at this forum, I take it that my participation in this thread is mandatory. The point is though, that I don't really have a clue as for why we've come to export those unfeasible amounts of crappy pop. I guess that people in the media industry have just gone mad. Hell, we've even got those ridiculous tv-shows were people compete to become part of a band, and were those who don't fit are being voted out. That's not cool, I've never liked the idea of having a company picking people and provide them with all the songs, I feel a lot more respect for singer-songwriters. We have a lot of great Swedish artists though. Too bad that you never get to hear them. Of course, you don't understand Swedish either... So yeah, I mostly agree with you. Although, your stance on ABBA knocked you down a peg on my list. And should you in any instance say anything bad about Roxette, I'll immediately take my axe and walk straight out of the door and track you down. Actually, I like it when it's all dark. When it isn't really daylight before 10 and pitch black before 3 o' clock (kinda, like it's right now). That's nice. Although, I have to say, it's even nicer in the mid of summer when it never gets dark.
I am by no means "metrosexual" enough to like ABBA, or any other 80s cheesepop, for that matter. I realize it's kinda hip -- though thankfully on the wane -- and would go a little bit towards getting me laid more often, as I'd get to go to 80s clubs where all the chicks hang out, but no, no, no. Music is not good because it's bad. Post-irony is sooo last season. Authenticity, genius, virtuosity is where it's at. And no, she in fact, does not got the look. *gets axe proof door and kevlar suit*
You not love Britney orgasmic tunes that flow orgasmic energy to the heavens and beyond ? Shame on you
Ah, those are worldwide, I'm afraid. We even got our dose of 'em down here in South America. Brazil, Argentina, even my little Uruguay - nobody has escaped.
