Besides, if "president" Bush attacks another nation now, he's dead meat.

Really? From who? The citizens of the U.S. piss me off sometimes, we should be rioting in the streets right now, and yet, it sounds vaguely like nothing is fucking happening outside.

Yes, but we're too shiftless to do a damned thing about it. I mean, we're of a group mentality. If noone else is rioting, noone will join in...and that means noone will start rioting for fear of not being in a group.

Man, I've pretty sure that you have all heard of the riots in Denmark on the news?

I read some books by Hunter S Thompson a while ago, Hell's Angels and Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72, I think it was, and in those books, it seemed like you were always rioting (it's not just that he used to be kind of weird, but I remember some chapter where he got to a town where there was a riot, and it seemed like an everyday thing).

    What's changed?

The patriot act. We've been technically under martial law for some time now. Not that you'd ever see that on the news. It's nothing like Tienman Square, but the rights to speech, assembly, and general self-determination are beginning to be eroded.

Martial law? Is it like the martial law that was in Poland in the 80's?

"Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act"

No law can be too freedom-friendly if the word "terrorism" is in its name.

Yea, proper tools... I prefer Ben Franklin's way of putting it:

"Any nation that would trade it's freedom for security will neither attain, nor deserve, either."

Well, that might be a paraphrase, I'm sure his version had more slurring of words and pauses for waitress fondling.

French waitress fondling. It just goes to show you that you don't need to be in shape or generally good looking in any sense to be labeled a playboy.

Unfortunately, those on power love to twist the constitution until it suits their purposes. And, none of them seem to give a rats ass as to Franklin's ideals.

One of the qualifications for the terror watch list is actually overly vocal support of the Bill of Rights, specifically the 1st, 4th, and 5th Amendments.

Even with that said, I love my country too much to leave. Also, I think that moving out of the country may be considered terrorism.
