What am I supposed to do after I find out about Renford A. Terwilliger's death? Virgil says we should go to the library and ask for the book, but when I go there, there are no dialogue options other than "I'm here to peruse the books" when I talk to the librarian. I read something on a walkthrough saying that I need to get the book "Curse of Tsen-Ang" there instead, but that book isn't in the library either. I think early on in the game I found a newspaper that gave me the same quest: to look for "Horror Among the Dark Eleves" and that is when I got my library account. I might have taken out a book and then thrown it away... I guess the question of this post is: What am I supposed to do at this point and am I screwed? Any help is appreciated, I tried another forum and nobody answered... :-x

you have to buy a membership for the library, and then ask for the book, she won't have it, but she'll have another one you'll find interesting.

Yes, I already bought a membership to the library and I must have already asked about the book because I received the quest when I looked in the newspaper. I think I actually read the book before and threw it away, but I still can't advance in the quest. I'm asking if there is anything I can do at this point, besides look all over Tarant for the book.

In other words, I want these questions answered:
1.) Does the book I get from the librarian trigger something after I read it or does it contain certain information that I have to act on by myself?

2.) If I read the book before I needed it for the main quest, does that mean I have to read it again?

3.) Am I stuck? If I am, is there a way to advance in the quest in a different way OR is there an editor where I can put the book in my inventory?

Did you go into the Hall of Records to learn about what they provide? During that time you ask about books and get info on the Library. Go there as about the "Horror" book but she recommends another book. Get that book it is the path to continue the game. However its not required to continue the game you can just go to 'Cala' and the 'isk' house and continue from there.

Hmmmm....well I went back to the Hall of Records but all I could ask about is Renford A. Terwilliger's death. I went back to the library and still couldn't get any book. So what is "Cala" and "isk"?

"Cala" would be Caladon and "misk" - Victor Misk

Ok...I think I can clear this up now: I can't get to Caladon to see the Misk guy. I just read a hint file on the quest and it says to get the location of Caladon on my map, I need to read the book that is in the library in Tarant. This is where my problem comes in. I can't find the book because I think I took it out of the library a long time ago and I must have thrown it away somewhere. I still don't have Caladon on my map and I need some help.

you can check that by looking in the librarian's pocket, if its not there then you've taken it, but if its, save and pickpocket.

So there is no other way to get to Caladon? If not, I think my saved game is garbage now...

    you could force caladon.

if you check the travelguide: http://www.rpgplanet.com/arcanum

Find gorgoths pass and travel there, you cant get all the way there by world map, but you can travell as close as you get and then walk along the mountain side manually until you find lots of monsters.

Go to Wolf cave and then head West. When you reach a rock wall go South untill you reach a trail with colorfull folage. Thats the East side of Gorgoth Pass.

However you may also use way points to go to Gorgoth pass and if you click on the right spot you'll reach the West side of Gorgoth pass. Then head South to Caladon.

I go this route to gain Mastery of Repair as early as possible in the game. It's tough but doable.
