After the recent battlemage discussion and after seeing the deadly Vorpal bunnies in action, I've decided to play the next game (once I finish my current one as an evil spellcaster) with a character designed for getting the maximum advantage out of the Stillwater Blade. Here's what I came up with so far: Character class: Stillwater shaman/ Vorpal bunnies breeder Fighting style: Melee+ support spells +summoning through Stillwater Blade (goal:3-5 Vorpal bunnies) Desired statistics after full development: ST 20 or more, DX 20 or more, INT 20, MA 100, maximum melee+dodge+pickpocket, preferably also expert persuasion (for fate points)+ good alignment. Questions: 1)Best background? 2)The demands to statistics are quite high. I haven't done the math yet, but I expect a severe CP shortage. Hitting 100MA and staying good with any race other than elf (because of ST penalty) and staying good requires learning up to 19 spells(and of course it also means boosting up WP, which also costs). Any ideas how to overcome this? 3)Are there any ST boosting items (not weapons) in the game except N'Tala necklace? Any other ideas/recommendations welcome.
Well I know Alberich's blessing boosts str., but as far as items go, I haven't come across any memorable ones aside from the axe of strength, but you said not weapons.
since you'll have bunnies, you wont need many followers. you could go with the only child background to give you +6 willpower. this would help you save points for strength. i have considered such a character in the past who would have virgil for his follower and use bunnies and other cool creatures.
The ST 20 is not realy needed. The 1/2 Elves get a 5% MA bonus. The Only Child background will do the trick, you can buy a Stillwater Blade in Tarant. Study Meta for Reflection Shield, that will make the bunnies permanent. Disperse Magic is the only way to get rid of them afterward though. You could try an Elf with an ST boosting background such as Troll Offspring, but it will be a long time before you get enough spells for 100% MA. But then again, with Troll Offspring or Beat with an Ugly Stick, you can survive a long time on mele.
Could anyone please remind me this trick with reflection shield? I vaguely remember that it also involves Dominate Will, that makes two magic schools... Or can Reflection Shiled alone keep the bunnies from disappearing after I put away my Stillwater Blade and draw out Sword of Baltar for better damage?
It works on summoned creatures or dominated will characters. You cast reflection shield on a summoned creature, then dismiss the creature, then dismiss the shield. They will now be a permanent followers. You could run with 20+ bunnies if you really wanted to, no need for high INT.
