Grakelin: Attempting witty comments since 2009?

Bell Hooks, why in the hells did you come back if you've already figured out you're not wanted?

He gets off to it, surely. Incidentally, that's also why he hasn't been banned yet. Can't give the sick fuck the pleasure.

I just choked on the bread I was eating because I started laughing so hard when I read that.

Mojo Norwegio. But no, we shouldn't have a Powerpuff girls reference on here. I'm happier without it.

Ah, but it defused the anger somewhat, didn't it now?

There was anger in here? I thought we'd only reached mild exasperation.

    Yes.

But you have to admit that we'd be having boiling rage and fury right about now had Grakelin instead of 1985 said, for example, 1983.

Actually, I'd have had pretty much the same reaction, although I might have smacked him upside the head and told him to pay more attention to the maths. I am that rarest of rare things - a woman who isn't fussed about her age.

It is a myth. Any sensible male knows that women don't age.

    ...Excuse me a moment gentlemen.

*grabs Grakelin by the scruff of the neck and throws him out of the thread*

I do apologise for that unfortunate interlude. As I was saying, there are indeed a rare few women who havn't bought into the 'you must be between these two ages and look a certain way and wear these clothes to feel good about yourself' bullshit the media spews at us.

I will admit that we decrease in number every year, but it's an occupational hazard, you know.

The fact that I had to search the term 'twitard' makes me confident that I still live under a substantial enough rock.

The fact that I didn't have to search the term 'twitard' makes me confident that I am slipping further and further away from sanity.

The depressing part about Western society's pressure on women (which is still better than the developing nations, mind you!) is that it is something that strikes hard at a young age. Twilight fans are really just the next wave of ordinary pre-teen girls whose lives will be consumed and shattered by an obsession with appearance and men. Magazines like 'Seventeen' and 'Vogue' only help to push this trend forward. It has been said that women's fashion was made for men.

Vorak: Congratulations, you lucky bastard. My sister is a Twitard, but only for the movies, which is a step up from complete retardation.

Grak: For some reason that quote reminds me of an interview with Trinny and Susanna about their 'How To Look Good Naked' show. Quoth Trinny: "When women get naked, they're thinking 'oh, my thighs are horrible, my breasts are horrible, I look awful', but their boyfriends are thinking 'NAAAAAKED!'"

I first heard the quote from my Sociology teacher in high school (a woman whom I respect very much, and am lucky enough to still be in touch with). We can't just blame the media, though, because society and media is made up of the people living in society. The most horrible thing is that women themselves pressure other women more than men pressure women. I remember my mother had a book on the subject of women entrapping themselves in their oppressed positions before her house caught fire. Shame, I would have liked to look at it.

Trinny and Susanna (I'm not sure who they are) are right, though. My girlfriend is constantly complaining about her looks, even though I find her incredibly desirable and have to keep other guys away with a stick. When her clothes come off, we go through that very same scenario.

For uni, I'm currently doing an assignment on a Sylvia Plath poem, "Mirrors", that's along the same line of thinking. Plath would be considered emo by today's standards, but it touches on some very true points.

I hear there is a new scourge on teh Intarnetz called "Twitter", so I suppose that it's related to that.

Though my rock is not quite the size and density of Vorak's, I have never used Twitter, even seen what it is.

I take it it's some kind of chat room where little emo girls and boys post masturbatory comments about Twillight.
