    Hey Hey
I'm new to these forums and thought i would introduce myself :)

I'm Steampunk and have been a big fan of two Troika games. I have been mis fortunate in that i have not played the other to games. I am a fan of TOEE and of course Arcanum. Ive always played the game on and off and loved it. One thing i have found is that i have brought about 4 different copies of the disc because for some reason they have decided to fuck up! Its such a shame because i used to have the full version that came with the box but alas, I'm reduced to Xplosiv versions. Anyway, in the last few weeks i have really been getting to grips with making my own game with the world editor. Although i understand the basics thanks to a guide i read i still have so many questions that i would like to ask and up till now, none of them were answered. Hopefully maybe some of you people here will be able to help me out :)
I wont post again until you guys say its ok. I don't want to come here demanding help from you straight away. But thanks and hopefully you can help me out :)

Welcome, and good luck with your mod.

The best way to get help with your mod would be asking your questions in the Modding forum (but you should probably try searching first), so go ahead and do it, it's okay, really.

Hi there welcome to the House of Lords.

If you're making a mod for Arcanum, here are some invaluable resources:
    WorldEd Manual
Amtut Parts: 1, 2, 3 and 4. Part 4 isn't completely finished and most likely never will be, and part 5 was never started.
    More

And of course there is our Modding and Scripting Support section, even though there is much no one on these boards can give you an answer to, I'm guessing this is the most helpful modding/scripting support forum for Arcanum on the whole web.

Again I bid you welcome to the House of Lords.

    -Xz

    Thanks allot Xz :)
Thats right Amtut was the name of the guide i followed.
Before that i was having allot of trouble
Ill be sure to check everything out you said and once again, thank you for the nice greeting
By the way, is there any reason why the Guide hasn't been finished yet?

Yes, there is, I believe DarkUnderlord(DU), the guy who wrote it (also happens to be an admin on these boards) grew tired of it.

Well its a damn shame he didnt finish it but i tottaly understand why he didnt.
Besides, what could he have done that would make it finished?
I mean from where im standing this World Ed has pretty much no end to the amount of things you can do.
I dont think anyone could write something that long. Well maybe the people who wrote the World Ed Guide but then that thing was hardly "easy reading". Or hell it wasnt even understandable alot of the time!
Anyway, at least what he made is still avaliable to everyone.
Without that id be screwed

I believe the reason for him not finishing was that he couldn't find a good way to explain the technical stuff (you have to do outside WorldEd) to people who are complete newbies when it comes to programming, and well, that was basically the target group of his tutorial...

Yeah i think your probably right.
But the problem with some people these days is that they don't take the time to actually try and understand something. You know, if something sounds a little bit to technical thats it they give up. So yeah writing for people like that would be tough. Especially if your trying to explain something like World Ed
Who knows. maybe one day humans will evolve and become intelligent enough to grasp things like this. Until then, you special people here at these forums will simply have to try and expand your knowledge to those newbies like myself
But on a serious note. I think its better if you don't read a guide the whole way through. Easy to say i know but if someone cares enough or has that much want in them to make there own game or simply just mod then they could do it.
Look at this Chris Beddoes guy i think his name was. He probably didn't have a guide all the time and he created some interesting stuff.
I guess its like a formula.
    Willpower+time+Interest=Something
NoWillpower+littletime+littleinterest=Someone who simply cant be bothered

    My downfall.
    Well... One of many.
    I laugh to much.
But! If you prefer ill write in a mundane fashion and give off a genuinely depressed vibe. Up to you. Your forum not mine
    Whoops i mean...
But no really i don't want to just put lol
Most forums don't appreciate that :)

i shall now jump on the welcoming bandwagon by stating this:

    read the rules.

let me repeat that for you, since alot of newbies have problems with the concept.

    read the rules.

we're extremely xenophobic. so don't feed us. no, really.

if you can withstand the initial feeding frenzy, welcome to the forum.[/b]

    Ohh i see.
    Thats fair enough.
And i don't have a problem with being shouted at. If being a part of one of the very few and possibly the best arcanum/troika fan sites involves me getting shouted at then thats ok by me.
Now, i read the rules before i signed up to this forum.
Also i had a quick scan or skim read of a few recent posts.
So maybe i know a small amount of what i have to come from some people.
I shall try to feed you no more.
And ill try my best to adhere to the rules.
And by the way, thanks for making the effort to post

Welcome to the forums! I hope you have a nice time here and find the answers you are looking for. Oh, and I think what Vyenna really meant is that you use a lot of smilies - we tend to be light on those around here. You should read the FAQ on this very forum (General Discussion; it's the announcement at the very top): even though it's intended for this specific forum, many of the posting rules and guidelines apply to all of the House of Lords. Feel free to ask any questions (though if they are about modding I won't be able to answer you).

    Haha!

Thanks for the advice and the nice welcome.

I don't want to know, ok? He seems nice, even if it's you-know-who. I think that if he can keep this up, he won't be a problem.

And welcome to the forum, Steampunk! Whoever you are...

if you are who you say you are, steampunk, please understand that my hatred is not directed against you, per se. if you aren't who you say you are, understand that you're a creepy little asshole.

Lets let him stay for now, at least his name is better than the last few times. He's got some overdue flaming and head bashing to endure. Plus, he wont leave anyways. Persistent little bastard.

    Just dont start singing again!

    :smash:

He also deserves the can o spam avatar.
