Having a problem with Sebastian

I just got him, and he won't equip any guns. He'll equip any melee weapon I give him, but whenever I put a gun in his inventory, even if he is completely unarmed and has no shield, he won't touch it. And if I put it directly in his weapon slot, it appears for half a second, then goes to his inventory. Any way to fix this?

 

Make sure he has a good amount of ammo.

 

lots and lots of ammo! I usually give my followers a good 2k bullets, and carry around 4k myself.

 

He already has some bullets.

 

it's unlikely that he'd rather go bare fisted when there's a gun and bullets. Is he wearing gauntlets that do a lot of damage? And what gun are we talking about here?

 

I've tried giving him a Looking-glass Rifle, a Quality Revolver, a Fine Revolver, an Old Flintlock, an Elephant gun, a Hand-cannon, and a Clarington rifle. Even if I empty his inventory, de-equip all his things, and give him a ton of bullets, he won't touch any of them.

 

Go to Ashbury, get one of those REALLY big stones out of the field, and throw it at him. If that doesn't fix him, give him a sword and be done with it.
