Eight years ago today, on my 18th birthday, I got on a van headed to Fort Jackson for basic training. Since then I've been in a couple wars, shot some guns, flew around in some helicopters, had some near misses, made some great friends and seen some amazing things. It has been a fun ride, but I'm glad it's almost over.
1) Glad to hear that the eight years failed to get you KIA. 2) Any plans for what the next eight years will entail?
Well Happy 26th Birthday to you! Here's hoping you do make it through the rest of your tour safe & sound.
So if you've been back in the US since May, but you've got another few months before you are set free, what are you doing in the meantime? Training noobs?
Oh, mostly just shamming out of work as much as possible under the guise of getting my affairs in order. As for the next eight years, the first four will be spent at school. After that I will most likely start earning millions of dollars, become a philanthropist/super hero/living legend, end all the evils of the world and usher in a golden age of peace and prosperity, then build a moon base where I will be frozen in cryogenic stasis until the world needs me again.
Hey we are the same age except doing things in reverse. I've done the Uni thing and I am now joining the police. Not the exact same as the military but I get to shoot guns and stuff I suppose.
