HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! Everyone! One year ago today, something happened. I can't remember what exactly. I've been living under a rock for the past week and so have missed the umpteen thousand TV specials, radio broadcasts and newspaper stories about this anniversary (especially all that footage of people jumping from bulidings. That's always fun to drag out!). But, just because I can't remember what happened (about) one year ago today, doesn't mean I can't wish you all a Happy Anniversary!

    Darkwalker,

Please don't make posts like that. As far as I'm concerned, people can joke about 9/11 all they want. I can understand if you get somewhat upset over this. Maybe you've lost someone you knew in the attacks, so I'm gonna create a separate, clearly-labeled thread for 9/11 jokes so that you can avoid 'em all together.

Jinxed, since you're back, is there any chance you could lock this one? I can't see anything good coming from it.

Right, it's okay to joke about everything else, but when it comes to something near you it's not okay. I can understand you get pissed if you lost some family or friends in the event, that's a perfectly natural reaction, but hell today jokes are being made about everything, it's hard not to offend someone when telling a joke. Sure it's a completely tasteless picture, but it's not much worse than a picture of an Afghan ramming a goat up the ass. If the picture bothers you that much, i'll remove it again, not that funny anyway, but i don't see why joking about the 9-11 events is so bad.

It's more a case of it being rammed down our throats so much that we want to make jokes out of it. You can't turn on the television or read the newspaper here without being reminded every other ad or page that hey, did you know that on September 11 last year some guys flew some planes into the World Trade Centre?

Oh, you already know? Well, let's re-iterate it so much that you know more about than the people who were directly involved!

To be honest, I care more about my uncle's dog dying¹. At least I knew her - I didn't know anyone in the WTC, therefore my care factor decreases proportionally. Hence I don't care anymore.

¹On a side note, her name was Rosie. Could this be an omen?

You can joke about what you like, Rat Keeng. If you keep joking about thousands of innocent people trapped in a burning building, you can do it without me - and anything else for that matter.

Yeah, it's been on TV a lot. Turn off your TV for the next few days, if you can't face it. Don't worry, as soon as the anniversary has passed, they let you have your reality shows back.
