Yes, Terra-Arcanum is officially 5 years old today. We've been through a lot over these years, including being hacked about 6 times - which has meant a lot of fun re-installing database backups. Unfortunately, that's one of the hazards of the jobs. The site has also seen a complete change of the guard, originally founded by people such as Calis, Saint_Proverbius, Xerophyte, ratster and Oyarsa and a handful of others, keeping the site going today is mainly down to Jinxed, with myself, Snowmane and Mathboy lending a hand. Despite his "retired" status, Calis still pops in every now and then too just to see how things are going.

We've also been through a change of focus. While initially created purely for Arcanum news and content, the release of other RPGs by Troika saw us move to simply covering Troika Games itself. I like to think we did an all right job. Nothing spectacular, but we've certainly outlasted all the other fan-sites who've tried to do the same thing (whether that's a good thing or not is up to you).

Of course, the saddest thing is that we also outlasted Troika Games themselves. As you all know, the company closed its doors when it couldn't find a publisher interested in Mystary! - their proposed Post-Apocalyptic RPG. This was all after Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, Dungeons and Dragons: The Temple of Elemental Evil and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines had hit the shelves. While they had their flaws, 3 generally considered solid RPGs ain't so bad. It's disappointing that Mystary! may never now see the light of day.

Now, enough reminiscising about the past. Even though Troika are gone, there's no reason why we shouldn't keep gathering information about them and their games. That's why we've decided to launch the Troikapedia.

the Troikapedia

The Troikapedia is a wiki. If you don't know what one of those is, it's basically a tool where anyone (yes, that's right, anyone) can add or edit information into it. You don't even need to register, you can just pop-in, find a page that's missing something and add in everything you know. You can even create new pages and add new content about Troika.

Keeping in line with Troika's tendency for overly long game names, we've officially called it the Troikapedia: A Post-Troikan Temple of Vampires, Steamworks and Obscure Information. There's not a lot of information in it yet but we've made a start. Over time we hope many people will be able to add content and that it will eventually become a major resource for all things Troika. So go on over there, have a read and start adding!

Happy Birthday!
