Hi all. How do I hack out the 'tempus fugit' sound ? I'm stuck with this bug and it's really no option to revert to a previous save. I can live with glowing gears around my character but the constant tick-tocking added to the flapping of my familiar is driving me nuts.

(I fiddled with the eyecandy hack but it didn't work)

Welcome to the forum, Wump! 0:)

Have you tried replacing the sounds for the Tempus Fugit with another sound?

    Thanks for the welcome.
How do I go about that ? I've tried arcanun but it only lets me extract, not put the sounds back in.

Well, the way I figured it is:

Extract the annoying tick tocking sound (spell_temporal_tempus_fugit.wav).
Kill the sound in a wav editor.
Put it back in the arcanum2.dat file.

    Or alternatively:
Find out where the call is made for the .wav file and let it point to a less annoying sound.

The first option should be the easiest if only I knew how to unpack/pack the sound from the .dat file.

AN unpacking utility is available at TA's website. Get it then unpack the sound. I think you already knew that. Remember the directory where you have the file. Maek the same directory at data. Then put the replace *.wav file in it.

Ah, hence the confusion. I didn't know that a repack is not needed, just put the file in data/sound. Anyway I deleted the ticking in a wav editor and it works !
    Many thanks.
