Gender Studies is a branch of Sociology, which uses the Scientific Method, and so is actually more scientific than many other Art Degrees.

 

We prefer to refer to them as Humanities subjects as opposed to Arts subjects. Though we still retain the label Bachelor of Arts. Traditions I suppose.

 

Gender != sex. Sex is biological which is why it's studied by science. But gender is a social construct which is why it's studied by sociologist.

Parents can already choose the gender of their baby at the hospital, or ask the good doctor to give the baby some selective positive genetics. So what will the doctors/scientists think of next?

Gender studies, that's about the differences of men and women in case of sterotypes, jobs, their rolemodels in different societies (sp?), social, and discrimination, etc. right? Not everything on this subject is that interesting.

 

Choosing the sex? Adding positive genes? I must be old fashioned, because I think the best way is naturally. But I suppose certain parents aren't up to raising a natural child, they need one tailored to fit their lifestyle.
