Someone else may have alredy found this but, I recently got my lv 16 thief past Gorgoths pass byusing the Tulla trick.
Just as the icon was over the pass I pressed the stop travel button and appeared on the western (Caladon) side of the pass, fro there it was full steam ahead to caladon and master prowl training.

I enjoy Gorgoths pass. It's a great place to gain some levels. And a good variety of monsters too.

Yes. And it has some monsters that I might want to get as followers if I finally decide to try meta abuse. Like the Golden Bear.

Every time you go into Gorgoth pass you come out at least 6-7 levels higher. It can be a pain though, if your in a hurry to force Caladon.

I have to agree. Each to their own, but I wouldn't skip the place. The experience boost is simply too good to pass up.

I think every time I've gone to Gorgoth Pass from the Dernholm side, it has thrown me through to the other side whether I wanted it to or not. Thus, I've always done it from the Caladon side, but I agree about not skipping it under most circumstances.

I often go find it fairly early in the game and use it to go to Caladon to get Spot Traps expert and Repair Master before I go to BMC, if possible. Maybe that makes the game a bit skewed, but I like being able to repair weapons and armor when those pesky ore golems damage them. And being able to spot traps better sure helps in those lower levels of BMC.

Spot trap Expert can be had in Blackroot, as can repair Expert. I never use repair, I prefer to carry backup weapons, & if I'm a techie, those backups are magical weapons, the better to hit Ore Golems with.

Of course even with back up weapons, I sometimes have to visit Tarant & the junk dealer for repairs before I am through with the BMC mines.

You're right, Shadygrove, I typed the wrong thing in front of "traps". I meant to say expert in Disarm Traps, which I get from Adam Maxwell. If there's somewhere else to get it, I'd love to know.

I also like being able to repair things completely or even if they are broken, and that comes in handy since I favor throwing explosives at things. I do tend to break a few of the goodies that I want to pick up that way. So it saves me extra trips for repairs and leaves more room for new stuff. :D Am I being overly greedy?

No, I don't think there's any reference to it to give you the location. I think the coordinates areS:1200 W:1442. I think that's what it is.

Gorgoth's Pass is at S: 1442 W: 1500, but you will have to go right up to the mountains and go on a point by point trail along them to actually find it. Even then you may have a hard time. Sometimes it's easier than others, but don't ask me why. You'll find a spot around these coordinates where you can go into the mountains and if you keep messing around in that area, you'll eventually hit it.

I found Gorgoth Pass while searching for unknown sites. It was great for early access to Caladon and for ID the other sites in western Arcanum. Now I only play Arcanum and a mage and any place containing fire traps and creatures spouting fire is deadly with magical armor and weapons. A real good magical leather armor as duriblity of 80 and can easily be destroyed. So after the Black mountain clan I'll have 18 Int. and then I save points I get in the Ashbury Castle. After the Isle of Dispair I go down to Caladon through Gorgoth Pass to get Master of Repiar. Now I can go to the Wheel Clan without any spare weapons or armor. I can even restore destroyed items to a durability of a repair done by a expert in Repair. I think all main characters should have repair.

Repair is the most useless skill you can get. Especially for a mage, sinec its a tech skill. Spare weapons and armor are not that much a bother, after all.

What I do when I am not a mage I unequip all the weapons and let them fight with gaunlets, these don't break on an Iron Golem and other creatures that destroy your weapons. The downside of this tactic is that you hurt yourself if fight with gauntlets each time you hit with a blow. However it saves trips to the repairshop. However, I think repair comes in handy with automatons and automated arachnids. Cause these things get quite sometimes damaged during a fight

I only play Arcanum at the hard level. A series of fire traps can destroy Mystiic armor (with duribility of 80). Only a master of Repair can fix it and the Repair skil is indepentent of the magic/tech meter and I'm usually at 100% magic. A mage with 100% magic/tech meter can repair everything in team to original duribility and for you to say Repair is useless for a mage then you need some more experience as a mage because its not useless. The magic/tech meter is related mostly to crafting skills and I don't use these.

I'll tell you a very simple solution: when you know you're going to run through a bunch of traps- take your precious armor off!

Here is my approach to this problem. First, I NEVER have to worry about the armor of my human and elven followers- I always dress them in Dread Armor. Virtually unbreakable, plus maximum protection for minimum weight.

Second, when you are about to run through a trap zone like in the Black Mountain Clan Mines, take off your armor completely or put on something expendable. In the Black Mountain Clan it is especially easy, since you find plenty of guard leather of all sizes. The same when fighting Fire Elementals and the likes of them- you know where you're going. Expendable armor and unbreakable weapons are not that much of a hassle to keep as backup.

The only true problem is fighting Arayas in the Void- but again, they are not that tough, and you can fight your way through without your precious Mystic Leather.

So you remove armor and weapons and can still fight in BMC and Wheel clan suffering no damage. Wow, what type of character are you using. A full ogre?

    Reaching Gorgoth Pass.

So how exactly do you reach the Gorgoth Pass from the Dernholm side? I constantly get the "Your path is blocked by water or mountains" error when I try to enter it after discovering it by proximity.

I even slip out of the map mode and inch my way as close as possible by running screen after screen and still get the same error message.

    **Edit

Given the affair over the term "gravedigger" which occurred in the Arcanum Discussion forum, I would like to point out I posted in this thread for an answer to a glitch, error, or what have you preventing my access to Caladon.

My intention was fully inclined to get an answer without starting a new topic.
