    Hey there!

So my question is simple. Which game in your opinion has the best storyline? And try not to mention Arcanum.

For me: Prince of Persia triology and Max Payne.

So far: Planescape Torment. I haven't finished the game yet, but I really like all parts related to the story line.

The Witcher deserves a mention in this thread.

I'm with TP on this one. Planescape:Torment is the best I have encountered so far, storyline-wise.

Marathon. Very atmospheric for its time, great plot.

So now Tetris isn't good enough? I've never played Planescape. If I played it, would I be tempted to cheat?
In this way I compare every game to Chrono Trigger. I didn't want to cheat, I wanted to play the game. And it didn't hurt that the character designs were of Toriyama's hand. I started watching Dragonball Z at 9, bought my first subtitled bootleg at 15...sorry I'll stop.

Dunno if you'd be tempted to cheat, but you owe it to yourself to play PST. That game is really the epitome of CRPGs. Boring combat and a clunky interface, but an absolutely amazing story where there are real consequences for your actions and some of the best written characters I have ever seen in a game. I love me some Chrono Trigger and think it does have one of the best video game storylines out there, but in my opinion Torment just blows it (and basically every other game ever) out of the water.

Other exceptionally well-written games are Arcanum, Tactics Ogre LUCT, Final Fantasy Tactics (if you can get past the horrible translation) and Suikoden 2.

EDIT: And Morrowind! How could I forget you, Morrowind?

All of them have pretty much the same storyline yet I enjoyed all them equally as much, I preferred Suikoden 1 the most though.

Indigo Prophecy started out awesome, but got weirder and stupider as the plot progressed.

Halo had an awesome story, though the story and the gameplay both went downhill with the sequels. Haven't played Reach yet.

Yeah, that game needs a completely different ending. It's just... dumb.

Heavy Rain takes the Indigo Prophecy game concept and does it correctly, in my opinion. First time I played through it, it was so intense, and they had me guessing who the killer was up until they finally revealed it. I had suspected EVERY character in the game.
