I currently have the full AVG 9.0, but it seems to be unable to detect my current virus. I'm currently trying out Stopzilla (well, it's installing right now)and I'm hoping that with a combination of software, I'll find ascan that will identify and destroy the threats on my PC. I'm still having website redirects and scripting errors through svchost, so I'm pretty sure it's virus. I hope it is. If not, I'll just have to reinstall windows on my machine and hope everything turns out ok. Right now, the longer I have my PC actiuve, the longer it takes all programs to open, like some sort of exponential increase of PC lag over time. It even prevents me from rebooting.

I've always used Avira Antivir. Works just fine.

Hmm, I'll have to check that out. Stopzilla was a free download and scanned my PC, but to remove the threats I have to buy the software. I'm on a budget, and I'd like to keep that $40 for food. I have another program running now, Cyber Defender.
What's the point of all of these viruses and shit? I know some malware can get you to buy software by scaring you into a purchase, and that's retarded.
I'm sure the people who make the viruses are tickled pink that people's systems are liquified from their handiwork. And they probably make their own software to prevent other people's viruses from affecting them. I guess it might be my own fault for not having the proper detection software on my computer, but if I spend money on something (AVG) I expect it to work! Whatever it is, it crippled my AVG.

This. Never needed anything else, the free version is awesome enough.

    NoScript.

Also, common sense. Everything else is bloatware and unnecessary resource hogging.

I have always used Avira Antivir. Uses minimal resources and doesn't interfere with other programs too much.

My friend had a google-analytics virus that loaded itself into her router's RAM. It would constantly redirect to sites and wouldn't let her log onto any of the sites she had favorited (kept saying server not found). Rebooting the router, resetting it to factory settings, patching it and changing to a stronger pasword cleared it.

Because it was on her router it wasn't detected by her AVG 9.0 either.

My AVG seems to struggle to clear out this I-Worm/Brontok thing. Then my Norton 360 (which sucks in all honesty) keeps 'fixing' a trojan called Rontokbro... coincidence??

    best antivirus

If your antivirus seems not to work very well or if you don't like it, you should change it. To do so I suggest you firstly read some reviews about some antivirus software and then make a decision about what to use. If you decide to do that, you may also check this website where you can find the best ten antivirus software reviews.

Let me second noscript + common sense.

However, this only prevents you from having a problem. I can't say I can help you solve one since I've been using noscript in Firefox for years now (in addition to not being retarded) and haven't had a problem since.

Several google searches for "common sense antivirus" has turned up nothing. Can somebody provide a link to the actual product?

You can't find it? Well, here you are. First link when I searched for it. Funny how that works. :)

Also, I'm running Microsoft Security Essentials, and it's quite awesome. I've had nearly no problems with it, it's pretty light on resources, and is un-intrusive.

Alright, geez, I get it. I lack common sense. When people were handing out brains, I was absent. I have a nasty porn habit. Not literally "nasty porn,", I'm speaking merely of the nature of my habit. It's my own fault I have so many viruses, I know, but that doesn't mean I can't reform and become "one with common sense."
The good news is, I'm relatively free of viruses. Thanks to your suggestions.

I keep getting the same stuff. Luckily, Windows popped up some suggestions on Anti Virus programs I could use when it detected the viruses, so I'm installing some pretty sweet .exe files which should fix my computer right good.
