I'd fallen out of gaming for a long time. It seems like overnight, my computer went from a gaming machine to an outdated unstable piece of shit, just good enough to download porn and browse the internet.

That, plus putting in a lot of hours at work killed my interest in gaming for a while.

Fast forward to today, and I still have that shitty computer. But now I also have an xbox 360, and I'm having alot of fun with it. So far, I have the new Splinter Cell game, Gears of War (fucking awesome), and Dead Rising. I've had a lot of fun with them, which frankly surprised me.

They cater to me in a way that computer games don't anymore. They're quick to get into and don't require a long attention span. It feels like you can just pick up the controller, turn it on and play for a half-hour or so. The computer games that I liked were an all day kind of thing. I loved getting so into a game that I could spend hours getting absorbed into it. But ultimately that's what turned me off to them. I can't commit the time anymore.

So obviously we were all Arcanum fans like five years ago. But what are all of you playing now?

At the moment, I'm quite busy playing Spuddy, the warmongering figurehead ruler of Kartoffelland (though we all know it's the Benevolent General Krull that calls all the shots).

In the area of real games, I sadly haven't much time with them since Kartoffelland started prospering. I am planning on doing a MP Alpha Centauri tonight, though. Sad, really...

I'm currently into NWN2, because I'll always be an RPG-whore. Unfortunately, I rarely have the time to play it as much as I want (I've only gotten so far as to level 5 and I bought it on the day of release... studies, girlfriend, aikido, social life... if there was a way to get rid of it all...). So I guess I'm having the same problems you have.

Also, I agree with you on the console games. There's no way you could have Tekken on the PC, it just wouldn't be right.

The Tekkens rule the Beat'em up genre, by the way.

I'm currently playing in my beloved Gothic, now the 3 part, in Xenus (for the second time), but my favorite is still Age of Empires I, from the year I bought it

I mostly play BF2, but since our computer is in the living room and my parents don't want me to spend more than 2 hours a day in front of it, I don't play that much. Sometimes, when I'm really bored, I go over to wobbler to play Medieval II. Both of us are great fans of Rome:TW and Medieval is just... better. Still some bugs, but always awesome.

I'm STILL playing Arcanum on and off. Aside from that I only really play CyberNations these days.

The only Civilisation I ever bought was 'Call to Power' *shivers* that was a mistake from the start.

I feel old. I'm playing Icewind Dale 1. Yes, I am. While reading The Crystal Shard. My boyfriend, on the other hand, is hooked on NWN2, so I *need* to know how that goes about as well, since he will talk about it very often.

Bunny: ID1 is an excellent game -- wish I had time to play it...

a bunch of others: Alpha Centauri and Alien Crossfire are light years better than any Civilization or Call to Power.

Dark Elf: I could be playing NWN2 if I hadn't misplaced my order, so I'll have to wait (not that my hopes are all that high).

Sofokl: I have Gothic 2, but found it unplayable since it crashed or froze every five minutes.

    anyone else: forgot...

Talking about IWD, I've yet to finish IWD2. Bought it three years ago, but I've never made it past that friggin' monastery. Decided I should finish it this winter, because playing IWD in the summer just feels retarded.

I'm actually planning on getting IWD soon since they just released both games on a DVD Rom.

I've never played the original IWD. Dunno why. I guess it's the THAC0 that scares me off.

I hated that Norwegian pirate, despite liking both Norwegians and pirates outside the game. He always messed with me.

Civ 4 and Sim City 4 are the games that will probably get me to update my computer.

I got Hearts of Iron 2: Doomsday recently. My computer can handle it fine, but the game is way too in-depth for me right now.
