Nope, there's no way at all to get back to the isle. Restart, new account, and all of that shit.

Or editing the file that contains the list of places where you can't transport. I don't remember which one it is, though...

That seems too obvious to be true. But, I believe you.
i have yet to complete the "gnome" quest. I might start it in a later game, ifI'm still playing Arcanum regularly.

    Edit: No, my brain doesn't work properly, I didn't extract arcanum.dat, only arcanum1.dat, ...

It is supposed to be possible with the ship location hack, but you lose the ship doing it.

Just reload an earlier saved game. Get some followers, good weapons. Travel to the isle, then kill everybody & loot everything (walkthrough is advised for this part of the game).

From what he has said, I'll assume that he doesn't have an earlier save. However no matter how many times we say you CANNOT EVER RETURN to the Isle of Despair, he refuses to believe us.

    EDIT

You posted while I was typing this, at least you've finally seen the truth.

If you're playing regular Arcanum, Sinbad's Cargo Hold Modification will allow you to go to the island with your boat, but chances are you'll lose it once you're there.

If you try to teleport, it says.

..."A mysterious force is blocking you from going to that location."

    Or somefin like dat.

Yeah, there's really no way of getting back to the Isle safely, unless you have an old save on the Isle, in which case you never actually left it in the first place...yep.

Lucky for me that I have a 200 GB 7200rpm HDD (~30MB/s) and save each game in a brand new slot.

There is this thing that can let you edit Schematics and make whatever you want.

This faq is from Gamefaqs made from Count Tyrant.

It's a bit confusing, but if someone actually reads it, I bet they could figure it out! :)

EDIT: Okay, I found out it won't directly like you, so go to http://www.gamefaqs.com/ and go to Search For (Top left of page.) and type Arcanum. Press "Go." Click Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura and when the new page pops up, click FAQs & Guides. In the In-Depth FAQs section there is one that says Background/Schematic Editing FAQ, click that one and the FAQ will pop up.
