O.K., I admit I'm here modding the game and haven't even went 1/2 way through yet I got sick of my other PC's so I made a half ogre with troll offspring background. I decided to go pure warrior with him and max his stats in strength and dexerity....man, when I hit 20 (his max strength is 24...but still) he became an unstoppable juggernaut. he could be bare-ass naked and and kill flame elementals bare handed....what exactlty are the bonuses for maxing each stat? If I go to the isle of dispair and leave...can I return? I have strength, dexerity, melee and dodge maxed....what else should I raise....I'm currently raising con and WP for the resistances and extra HP/fatigue. I did the uber thief, and now have an uber warrior, how does one make an uber mage and tech...a gunslinger even.... does dog wait forever? will I be a bad person if I kill virgil? He really bugs me thats all for now, thanks
Ah, the memories... my first character, Baltazar Stormhammer, was a half-ogre with the Ran Away With The Circus background. Just like your char, he could walk straight through reinforced steel walls without a moments hesitation. Quite the killing machine... Fighter types, and especially Ogre ones, have quite an easy time in this game. This is what happens when a stat hits 20: Strength: Double Damage Bonus Constitution: Immunity against poison Dexterity: 25 Speed (+1 for every point over 20) Beauty: Reaction modifier is 100% (+10% for every point over 20) Intelligence: +10% to success rate to every skill Willpower: Immune to any spell resisted by Willpower Perception: Sense Invisible. Charisma: 100% loyalty - followers will never leave unless you ask them to. Oh, otherwise you could just consult page 18 of your manual (is there were I should include a "RTFM"? Really? Well, in that case, RTFM you schmuck ) Before you've talked to Thorvald, yes. If you have talked to him, then no. You're pretty much set with the character you have really. If Turn-based combat is your fancy, then Backstab is handy. Other than that, spells are also nice to have - you just need 5 Int, and then you can cast any spell in the game if you meet the WP requirement. You'll loose the dumb dialog options though, something I'll never forgive myself for doing with good old Baltazar. There are plenty of guides for that if you make a search - but it's quite easy really. Just take skills and abilities that makes sense. Don't worry too much about optimizing your potential - it's generally funnier that way. Dunno. SHADY! PLEASE SEE THIS AND ANSWER IT USING YOUR INFINTE WISDOM! OH, AND PLEASE PROVE ALL MY POINTS WRONG WHEN YOU DO THAT, PLEASE? I like being discrete. Please, go ahead. Some people would consider it a blessing. Don't be surprised when I come and blast the head off you though. Nothing personal. I just happen to like Virgil. No problem. I'll send you the bill. EDIT: Damn spelling... (mumbling off to oblivion)
ST 20- damage bonus +10 CN 20- poison immunity DX 20- speed 25 BE 20- reaction 100% from all people you meet (not 100% sure about this one though, never made it) INT20- critical success bonus +10% in all skills (don't know if it includes combat skills, probably does) WP20-immunity to spells, the resistance to which depends on WP (like Dominate Will) PE20- supposed to be able to see the invisible, but rumor has it that its bugged. CH20- followers never leave no matter how low their reaction falls. If you didn't talk to Thorvald yet- I think you can. Never did it before though. If you did talk to Thorvald- no. Depends on your playing style. Is your uber warrior tech or magic? There may be some useful spells you might want to get, or some neat tech items. Mage:WP20,INT20, DX20, no combat spells, a collection of Arcane staves, Temporal to the top, Harm, Fireflash and whatever other spells you might want. I usually chose Conveyance, many would say Force. Don't be so evil to Virgil. One day, when you play a character with evil alignment, you will discover the usefulness of Virgil- he is the only healer an evil guy can get.
Sweet..thanks guys...just one more question.... would the points be worth it to get the schematic for the regeneration armour? ... with immunity to poison...and super melee skills... also is melee and dodge mastery worth the bother?
Yes they really fucking ARE worth the bother. Dodge master makes it so every time you dodge an enemy blow they critically miss. Melee master makes you deal double total damage with every melee attack. Sorry Solaris, Dark elf's right about the double damage bonus. When you only go up to 20 St it would look like +10, because your base damage bonus it 10, doubled to 20, but when you go up further it kind of matters. I think it gets up to 28 or something for a half ogre with max St. Well, for the regenerative armor, first off, you're probably never EVER going to need it. Carry a couple of potions, you will never get hurt THAT badly. Secondly, that's wasting a bunch of points. If you plan on raising your In above 5 go for magic, especially if you've already been raising Wp. 5 In and Minor Heal, you don't need any other healing besides that.
I believe Melee Master bonus merely means that you never critically fail- unless your enemy is a Dodge Master. Dodge bonus overrides that of Melee.
That's what I thought about Melee&Dodge mastery too. I think if what Blinky said about the melee mastery bonus was true, the fighter characters would have too big of an advantage. Just think, twice the damage of a Pyro axe , or Arcane Great Sword. It makes me shudder at the thought of it. MatahChuah
I've found katanas to be useful...fairly cheap..and basically double the ammount of attacks per round... ...if I don't move I can attack lik 8 times a turn....
Yeah, and the barbarian's heavy blade is somewhat fast and does a decent amount of damage. It's almost always in stock at the Wheel Clan smith.
Yes, in the patched game, when you tell Dog to stay, he stays forever. Dark Elf, I can only do that when you are wrong. Agreed. And when you are right, you are right.
