Is it trying to load or are you getting some kind of error message. I have noticed that the first time you play after shutting down your computer it takes an inordinate amount of time to load (like 3 minutes on my machine). The first time I played after installing it took longer. If you are not getting any error messages just be patient and see what happens.
Thanx Vlad the Imposter, for the welcome. Actually the game doesn't seem to want to launch at all. No matter if I click the .exe icon in the folder itself or the shortcut in the start menu or even clicking in it from windows explorer from the CD ROM drive. I click on it and nothing. When I click on play on the games main menu, it just closes and nothing. This happened once before when I installed Diablo but was cured with a d/l of a patch. I have installed the newest patch, but it didn't help. I am still looking to see if anyone else has had this problem. Did you also install DX8 with the game? And if so, did you let Windows do it's BS and restart your computer prior the the Arcanum setup closing. If you did you may want to uninstall the game using Add/Remove Programs and re-install Arcanum. Since you already installed DirectX you won't have to do it again.
Ok, I just went through all that. Thought it may be cause of having to reformat not long ago and hadn't installed the newest version of DirectX. But I uninstalled the game, rebooted, then went to Windows Update site and got the newest version, installed and rebooted, then re-installed the game. Still a no-go, I then reinstalled the latest patch, rebooted but still nothing. Well, getting late so I will try to figure it out tomorrow. Thanx for the tips and help though.
Is it a burned copy of the game?? Some games (i think Arcanum does) has something written on it that messes up the CDRW when the data is copied to it and the CD just wont work. If that is not the case, I sugest exchanging it.
