Thats cool, but I don't envy the people you take care of in the hospital, with the amounts of Zubrowka that foreigners usually drink here, it's probably good to avoid doctors from abroad ;)

Ah but you're talking about beer :D Zubrowka is a vodka, a dang good vodka. As for beer... LECH is fine, ZYWIEC is kind of retarded in my opinion, try TATRA, it's very cheap but very good :)

I thought Lech was a man's name and Tatra some mountain name or something similar? Never heard of Zywiec, though.

Also, I'm immensely impressed with being called a "homeboy" by Blinky. That'll show those wannabes the Latin Kings... Dogge Doggelito? Just some punk-ass motherfucker compared to the mighty Spuddy!

(Swedish references ftw -- and another internet expression ruined.)

True ;) But it's also a name for a beer, besides that Lech is a very rare name in my opinion tough. Still there is Lech Walesa who is probably well known abroad. On the other hand there is Lech Kaczynski who is the curent president of Poland and who I personaly don't like :p

Yep, Tatra are a mountain range on the border of Poland and Slovakia :)

Why, thank you, jankiel. It's always good to feel appreciated.

As for beer: still Guinness, thank you!

Grölsch dark - when I can get it. The local excuse for mead the rest of the time.

    Mead? You mean honey-wine?
Stuff's too sweet for me. I like my alcoholic beverages bitter or burning.

    More like honey beer.

I got to try some real stuff up in Seattle, and I haven't found anything that comes close since.

You should try my grandmother's homebrewed mead. The best stuff I've ever had, and the only thing that got me drunk on a class field trip, too. Of course, I was only 13 at the time...

    Ah, but it's not really beer unless you use hops and barley. Mead is, in its simplest form;
    Water
    Honey
    Yeast
They even call it honey wine here, at realbeer.com

It's good, and I'll admit that if it's there I'll drink it. However, noone really knows how to make mead just how I would like it.
Even though, as wikipedia and realbeer say it, mead can be made in as many ways as (and sometimes more than) regular wine or beer.
I'm interested in finding some Great Mead...

I disagree that mead is honey wine. Or I would, had I not read that the ancient Egyptians called beer "barley wine" ...

If there's a contest between mead and beer, I'll choose mead every time. It's just that good mead is hard to find.

As Grossen said, it depends on the kind of mead. It basically comes in three forms:

Mead tasting like beer - the kind you buy at Systembolaget. It's good.

Mead tasting like wine - the kind I bought in England. Also good, although a bit to sweet to drink in large amounts.

Mead tasting like utter shit, like the kind I tried to make from ordinary baking yeast, tap water and cheap honey. It got insanely carbonated, was more bitter than my late grandfather's left armpit and while I guess the alcohol content was fairly high, it was impossible to drink it in adequate amounts to reach inebriation.

If there was only some way these here internets could transmute keyboard commands into wondrous beverages on the reader's side of the wiring, I'd give you all a taste of granny's mead with raisins in it. Bestest stuff ever.

(And mead needs to be brewed at home or directly picked up at the brewery -- I'd never trust Bolaget to get the taste right. Sorry.)
